safest =/= smartest.Originally posted by CorvaNinerFan:I think the smartest pick is DL...Ray Mac's gone, Justin Smith could be. That's a ton of experience lost...neither Carradine nor Jerrod-Edie are proven as starters. So, my pick would be DE/DT Eddie Goldman, FSU, 6-3, 315. He's got the total game. Even if Justin comes back for another season, now's the time to draft his replacement.

me = frustrated/disgruntled
I appreciate the ones that are working out/worked out. Seriously tho, I hope he doesn't get projects this year unless it's past the 4th rd and I hope he let's the new HC (hopefully it's an offensive minded guy) pick a WR instead of himself.

To me a safe pick would be drafting a WR with length and good speed such as Kevin white, ODB, Parker, Higgins. We haven't seen that in awhile around here so any type of threat would be music to the zones ears. We draft good at every other position in late rounds so I would be upset if we don't take a WR in the first

Bowman was a 3rd also. Moral of the story. When's the last time we drafted a WR in the late rounds that panned out? Hint hint he made us get our popcorn ready

The niners can't wait for a guy to develop, either at DL or WR. If they draft a R McDonald type of guy it could take a few years for him to start. If Smith retires they don't have two years.
I really like Kevin White but DL may be a bigger need this coming year. Baalke does a great job filling immediate needs through FAcy...so it may come down to who they can sign before the draft.
