OnTheClock's Final Big 256 Board

Well, the time has finally come. The wait is over, and the final Big Board is here. After hours and days, weeks, and months of deliberating, this is my final projection of how I think the draft may play out. As MadDog and I have stated before, THIS IS NOT A MOCK nor is it a ranking or listing. This is a GENERAL PROJECTION of where we feel a player is most likely to be selected. The main idea is to accurately predict the round first. Overall though, there are so many trades, a mock is altogether impossible.

I have bolded the 49ers slots, but those are NOT necessarily the picks I expect them to take.

Anyways, here is the final product.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Based on this general projection, I think the 49ers could walk out of this draft with something like the following:

1. Marqise Lee-WR-USC, 6-0 192 4.49
2. Phillip Gaines-CB-Rice, 6-0 193 4.38
2. Marcus Smith-OLB-Louisville, 6-3 258 4.68
3. Trai Turner-OG-LSU, 6-3 310 4.93
3. Traded to move up in 1st or 2nd
3. Marqueston Huff-S-Wyoming, 5-11 196 4.49
4. Brock Coyle-ILB-Montana, 6-1 235 4.62
5. Josh Mauro-DE-Stanford, 6-6 280 5.15
7. Garrett Gilbert-QB-SMU, 6-4 221 4.86
7. Gator Hoskins-FB/TE-Marshall, 6-2 253 4.71
7. Bennett Jackson-CB-Notre Dame, 6-0 195 4.46
wow, no Richard Rodgers from Cal?

Too much depth in this class. Very mediocre workout compared to his competition. Looked weaker, slower, less explosive, and underdeveloped. Might get picked in the 7th, but I think he might be one that gets pushed out.
Nice work. And your projection of what the Niner's wind up with is great. We can only hope that they get something close to that.

I'll always respect your opinion, and I'm a Cal homer anyways, but definitely think he won't be a UDFA.

I may make a minor tweak in our 3rd rounders before tomorrow, but I feel pretty good about the rest. I think it will be some sort of offensive lineman in that 2nd-3rd round range. I see Mewhort, Turner, Dozier, and a few others as some guys to watch out for. It's hard to determine other teams' preferences when those top half have so many dire needs without much discrepancy between what they "really need the most."
Posting my final board soon. Let's compare notes. I have a few head scratchers for some people soon.....Skov, Henderson, Purifoy, Hampton undrafted.

I debated on Henderson, he might be a case like Alex Boone. I ultimately left him on the board in the 7th. Purifoy and Hampton though? Easily undrafted. Had horrendous off-seasons with atrocious workouts and then both of them followed that up with getting arrested. Just pure idiocy.
No Cody Hoffman? He should at least be in the top 250 imo.
Man this would be hard to make tho.. well done

Lots of tough calls to make in this draft. Just don't think he makes the final cut .
Shocked to see players like Easley and Buccannon go in the 1st. Both shouldn't have gone there. Not surprised about Smith. Outstanding player and thought he was under the radar. Guessed wrong.

27/32 in the 1st is not bad, but short of the goal. Some of these selections will just push outstanding players down to the 49ers. I see a number of players we can now go after in the second at some key positions:

WR
Lee
Latimer
Moncrief
Richardson
Robinson
Davante Adams

DL
Tuitt
Hageman
Ealy
Nix
Jernigan

OL
S'ua-Filo
Mewhort
Bitonio
Gabe Jackson
Marcus Martin

OLB
Demarcus Lawrence
Attachou
Carl Bradford

CB
Gaines
Breeland
Desir

Pretty darn accurate, geez. I like that list. 5 of those guys can be niners today.

And that's not including Martavis Bryant, who could be on the radar, although the 49ers seem to have been targeting more shifty types.

I copied your big board and I am using it to monitor the draft. It makes me excited to see how much talent is being pushed down! I think the beginning of the season one round will be marked by a run on defensive line and wide receiver. If we are targeting a guy from one of those groups, which I suspect, we will probably have to trade up to ensure he is ours. I would love it if they could do it without losing both of their second round picks.
