No to trading up for Gilbert. He doesn't play physical defense, and we do. Since that trade dictates the rest of your draft, I'm not really happy about it. I like Landry, Clarke, Exum, and Long.

That's too much to give up to move up to the middle of the first round. I'd offer 77, 129, and a 7th round pick. If the team didn't accept that, then screw them.

My mock gave up the 61st, 129 to get the 17th pick and was overpayment. Giving up the first 2nd, a 3rd and 7th to get the 14th is ridiculous.
As the others said, Gilbert doesn't schematically fit us, you're falling in love with measureables and the fact that he is an elite (at least in college) return man. Rather trade up for Beckham if you are looking to fill the return man position and fits as a slot man. We can get CBs like Desir, Breeland, or even Roby just to name a few in the 2nd or 3rd (Given Roby's epic fail behind the wheel and that I believe Breeland will be on the board at 77).
Landry is a delayed replacement for Boldin/Crabtree, waiting until the 7th to take a player that fills the speed need is a bit of a stretch.
Never watched Clarke so I can't comment other than that you have picks that I have as well so I can't argue against them.

The one positive for me is Jeff Janis. Three DBs, 1 WR (a Q. Patton clone) and a DE is all in the top 4 rounds?

This. However the Gilbert myth continues.....he's not that good of a CB to trade up that much for. Just another example of how people put too much stock into measurables and physical ability.

For real I think Pittsburgh has to take Gilbert if they go DB in the first though. I do see him being an Ike Taylor type DB, not Fhysical but can still cover well. Be a perfect transition to have Taylor mentor him.

Dennard or Fuller would be better CB's to trade up for...if Baalke does that. No telling how they'll come off the board...hopefully Fuller would last 'til early 20's or so, which wouldn't be as costly.
With Crabtree's future very much in doubt, I think Baalke will draft his potential replacement...he pretty much has to. Don't see Landry or Janis as capable replacements. If TB goes CB in 1st, then he could pick from among Matthews, Adams, Latimer.

Nice. Landry will give us that speed on offense we've all been craving for.

Yep, would like this draft a lot more if it was Darqueze Dennard we moved up for.
