Cooks, Roby or Gilbert. I'd be upset if they took anyone else besides those 3 after trading up in the 1st.
Strictly from a value standpoint, I could forgive Ryan Shazier or Eric Ebron, but those would be weird picks.

49ers have just traded up to the mid 1st round, you're Trent Baalke, who do you take?

My personal preference in this trade-up scenario would be Dennard, easily. But if they are set on taking a WR, my gut tells me that Cooks would be the guy. Can't really explain it but I can see the potential of how he would add a missing dimension to this offense.

I'd be happy with Cooks, Beckham, Fuller, or Dennard, although my personal preference would be for Fuller.

Cooks also seems to have the edge speed wise, just from watching them play in games and not looking at Combine times. Beckham is more quick than fast while Cooks has an outstanding combination of both speed and agility.
If the 49ers need a true deep threat, someone who will punish teams for playing the safety up too close, Cooks would be my choice. Beckham has been riding a wave of hype over the past month but I still see Cooks as the more explosive player. Cooks is a rather lousy run blocker but I get the feeling that the 49ers willing to overlook that and simply are looking for someone to draw defenders and potentially light up the scoreboard.
Both of them can be monsters with the ball in their hands in picking up YAC. Neither would make me unhappy but I keep getting this feeling that if the 49ers trade up and it is for a WR, that Cooks would be the guy they trade up for.
Beckham over Cooks because he is stronger and can beat press coverage and he returns kicks,I would not be mad if we drafted Cooks, but what? we splitting hairs between the 2 is what I`m saying. They are 2 wrs that would work well for the 9ers,I kinda wish there was a way where we could draft BOTH.

Dennard - I think he'd step right in and be a good fit at one of the biggest need positions on the team (they can get a quality WR in the 2nd Rd.).

Blake Bortles being in this poll makes this thread unrealistic.

Meh. Quality over quantity this year, imo. Especially with Lattimore, Dial and Carradine healthy. No way 11 rooks make the roster. If we dont move up it would be a big mistake.
That's why you move up in the second and third rounds. That's where all the depth is at in this draft. I wouldn't trade up to pick #17 or so when there is likely to be a guy just as good at pick #30, or that same guy you want may still be there. Out of the corners you have Fuller, Roby, Verrett, Dennard. One of those guys is likely to be there at #30. And we all know how deep the receiver class is.

Other teams seem to have the innate ability to plug and play personal at certain positions and get away with it. With the Niners, that position has historically been at CB. So I'm confident that we can find some gems in the lower rounds and be just fine.
The same CANNOT be said about the wide receiver position. We struggle drafting, developing and KEEPING quality at WR. I think going up and getting a kid like Beckham is sure bet. Let him come in and fight for playing time with Patton and Lloyd. Worst case scenario is that he is able to return kicks and punts and learn our system before Crabtree leaves for greener pastures.
I vote Beckham!!!!!

The size/strength argument is kind of misleading.
Cooks-5'10", 189-16 reps on the bench press
Beckham-5'11", 198-7 reps on the bench press
For comparison
A.J. Jenkins-6'0", 190-12 reps on the bench press.
Quinton Patton-6'0", 204-8 reps on the bench press.

I agree with you on that. If I were running the draft, that's pretty much what my plan would be. Draft down into then second and then pick my spots, move up as needed, add yet another pick in the 2nd round or add picks for future years.
If the 49ers are completely enamored with a particular player such as Beckham, Cooks or Dennard, I would not be upset if they traded up for them though. I trust that they know what they are doing and see the needs on this team.

Yeah that's exactly how I see it. I'd rather stay put or even trade back a few spots and do all our work in rounds 2-4 and come away with something like 5-6 very good players in those rounds. However, if the 49ers do decide to trade up into the first round I won't be mad. I will assume that they are absolutely sold on a guy and very confident he will be a stud, like they were with Eric Reid.
