1st Round: CB Jason Verrett TCU 5'9" 189
The best pure cover CB in the draft - has all the tools other than ideal height. Instantly becomes the 49ers starting nickel CB and solidifies a shaky defensive backfield.
NFL Comparison: Slightly shorter Joe Haden
49ers Trade 61st Overall Pick and 77th Overall Pick for ~45th Overall Pick and 5th Round Pick
2nd Round: OLB Jeremiah Attochu Ga Tech 6'3" 252
I was still in favor of the 49ers using an early pick on an impact pass rusher regarldess of the Aldon Smith situation. Attochu is a ferocious pass rusher with a non stop motor and great athleticism.
NFL Comparison: Justin Houston
2nd Round: WR Martavis Bryant Clemson 6'4" 211
Bryant is extremely raw but has all the physical tools to eventually develop into a legit #1 WR and also gives the 49ers a deep/redzone threat. I think the need for an impact WR is lower than most people are letting in with Crabtree/Boldin/Patton and now Lloyd added to the mix.
NFL Comparison: AJ Green / Stephen Hill
3rd Round: OC/OG Marcus Martin USC 6'3" 320
Strong, smart and athletic interior OL who will push Kilgore for starting OC spot and provides insurance if Iupati leaves next year as a FA.
NFL Comparison: Brian Waters
3rd Round: WR/KR Bruce Ellington S. Carolina 5'9" 197
Ellington is one of my favorite players in the draft. He's built like a truck but can fly and would be a threat both as a slot WR and as a return man.
NFL Comparison: Golden Tate
4th Round: CB Aaron Colvin Oklahoma 5'11" 184
Colvin is a 2nd round talent that falls because of a torn ACL. The 49ers can draft him and redshirt him in 2014 and then have a studly CB rotation in 2015 with Verrett, Brock, Culliver and Colvin.
5th Round: S Craig Loston LSU 6'0" 217
A special teams ace who can learn from Bethea with hopes of jumping into starting lineup next to Reid in a couple years.
5th Round: QB David Fales San Jose St. 6'1" 215
Smart, accurate QB with quick delivery, Fales projects as a great #2.
7th Round: LB Prince Shembo Notre Dame 6'1" 250
Strong, experienced long-armed LB who can compete for a role as ILB and OLB.
7th Round: OL Spencer Long Nebraska 6'4" 320
Was looking like a day 2 pick until suffered a bad injury. Long is an athletic mauler that projects equally well as an interior lineman and swing tackle.

Can't wait that long for a WR. Have to take one now to be ready when Boldin and/or Crabs leaves.

Ellington won't be there at 100 and may not be there at 77. I like the other picks though - Bryant would definitely help stretch the field and keep safeties back so we can run the ball.

Pretty good and also realistic. Addressed all our needs.
Not very sexy and exciting, but decent quality and depth.

Nice job! Really like the swap of picks to get us higher into the 2nd round. Not a fan of Bryant, but I understand the need for a big WR that has the speed to take the top off a defense. The rest of the draft looks solid.

That would be a great draft. Trade up within reason and get talent all the way through the final pick. Nicely done!

I like all the picks but you did draft a 5'9" CB and a 5'11" CB of the future. I think the 49ers may want to go bigger.
Also I don't believe Loston will still be there in the 5th rd.
I would be happy if the draft worked out this way.

Nice draft, but I think the 9ers need another CB. A big one who can play this year.

I really hope Martavis Bryant is more A.J. Green than Stephen Hill. I think he's the biggest wild card at WR in this draft.

I like all of the picks, but i do not know much about attochu..we have Lemonier who is going into his second season and he deserves some more snaps due to Aldon Smith likely to get some time away for his off-field actions. Any consideration to maybe switching Marcus Martin for Weston Richburg? I understand he may be a second-round selection, but he might fall, and he has tremendous upside as a Center challenging Daniel Kilgore on the offensive line. Also, if Iupati wants big money (which other teams are going to pay top-dollar for), it would not hurt to look at Brandon Thomas the Offensive Lineman from Clemson for a late-round pick. Had an ACL injury but was graded as a second-round pick. Huge upside on Thomas.
