Just an idea

Do you think we could address our needs with our 6 picks in the first three rounds then trade our 4th 5th and 7th round picks for picks in the 2015 draft? I ask the question because even though this is a deep draft I don't know how many rookies can make the team, and with all the extra picks in next years draft we will have the ammunition to target the players we want. Just an idea

STUPID F-N IDEA....

Damn dumba$$ newb....

Just joking, I thought of a similar idea and was roasted for it. I agree with you , there's noway all this years picks make the team and given the pillaging of our practice squad in recent years, that's not a great option either.

I think we should target 5-6 stud players that can step in and start and add quality production that's immediate.

Happy to buy future picks out of some of this draft's riches. Our needs next year may be more than this year and Baalke strikes me as a long term planner.

This is a deep draft, though. So it's kind of a balancing act.
Baalke usually finds a way to garner future picks. I am sure he would welcome trading a 5th round pick for a future 4th or our 7th round picks for future 6th rounders but can we find a buyer? I would be open to trading any of our picks. 2nd rounder for future 1st rounders or 3rd rounders for future 2nd rounders ect......
He may find a taker or two but it is hard to find 4 or 5. More likely than not it if we gain future picks they will come from trading back some of our picks but he mat be able to trade a couple of them for future picks a round earlier.

As for players making the team there are more potential roster spots than you might think. Who would be shocked if had 2 rookie CB's make the team? How about a rookie safety? None of our back up safties is that impressive. We could add a defensive lineman like a Stephen Tuitt. With Bowman out 1/2 a year or more there is a spot to add a LB and Wilhoite is a free agent next year. That's 5 potential spots on defense alone.

On offense we could add 2 WR's. Baldwin and either Osgood or LLoyd would have to go assuming everyone else stayed healthy but that's no big loss. We could add 1 offensive lineman and possibly an upgrade at 3rd TE. Maybe a PR/KR specialist and even a 3rd string QB. That's 3-6 more spots on offense.

We could also draft some redshirt type players for the pup list like Aaron Colvin or Spencer Long or Trey Millard or Whitley or Easley ect.......

I just hope we don't end up wasting our late picks like we did last year. Have a roster spot in mind for the player before drafting him. Otherwise draft a reshirt type player or trade the pick for a future pick.

On my last Fanspeak draft I drafted 2 WR's, 2 CB's, S, DL, OL in the 1st 4 rounds and then Aaron Colvin in rd 5 and Whitley, Long and Millard in rd 7. I projected all 11 making the team with 4 headed to the pup list. There was still room for a lB, 3rd TE and 3rd QB or a return specialist.
I'm a BIG fan of both getting future picks AND redshirting guys.

I also think Trent will do just that.
