Way too high. We have other needs beside another wideout. I could see the teens if he were still available by then.

I stumbled across that awhile ago and it makes sense - Evans is a guy with build up speed and wasn't a track guy like many of the other receivers which contributed to his slower start and poor technique in the 40. He's one of the younger players in the draft at 20 with an August birthday and could easily run in the mid-4.4's if he cleaned up his technique if this article is to be believed which is scary at his size. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some teams had Evans higher than Watkins on their board and one of those teams could be the 49ers. He's not as explosive or dangerous after the catch, but he has similar top-end speed and is more of a matchup nightmare because of his size.
The 49ers have shown interest in Evans and visited with him privately. He is almost a unanimous top 10 pick and likely will be taken at 7 by the Bucs, so they are at least considering making a very large trade up to get him. 5 might be a little too high, but who knows what kind of deal we can get from the Raiders. I wouldn't rule out that the 49ers have him rated much higher than many of us.

You have a way better chance of getting quality players out of 12, than you do out of 2.
I generally agree with this. Watkins is so special however, that even though I strongly believe in what you are saying, I would make an exception for him, and ONLY him.
I won't argue with you about Watkins. I've been going back and forth with a fellow 49ers fan via text and he believes we should trade away picks for Evans, and I Watkins. I'm in the middle of SEC country and love to watch SEC football on Saturday, but Evans is getting more hype than he should because of the SEC defenses. If we're gonna be that aggressive for a player, especially at #5, I say it should be for Watkins. Other than that, I say just stay put and let the draft come to you.

If we trade up to #5 it's only going to be for Watkins....assuming he slides

The Niners have a deep roster. It seems like ever they drop a player, that player gets picked up by another team and contributes.
Can the Niners include fringe players tontrades? It would open up roster spots and save money.

My gut feeling tells me we'll trade up and I'll give you three targets (Gilbert, Dennard or Beckham Jr). Moving up to #5 to grab Evans would be too steep a price.

If we move up I hope it's not for Gilbert, Dennard, or Beckham Jr. No thanks.
