Positions you want to see get stronger

I know there are some positions on the team that might be set , but there is always room for Improvement

I'd like to see some talent brought in for :

3rd and 4th CB - Cully's future is cloudy, Morris is not a safe bet to make the team, Cox is a quality reserve , but not starting material, Chris Cook needs to prove his worth after last years debacle in minnesota ..Wright and Brock are probably our starters as of now , so I'm hoping we bring in a couple more CB's for camp competition , and hopefully we find our fulltime nickel back or possible starter for next season

# 3 TE
..Carrrier and Celek are decent TE's , but I'd like to see us bring in another TE to groom for action down the road, preferably a quick target that can get open that is also a strong blocker

# 3 QB ..Gabbert should develop into a serviceable QB under Harbaughs tutelage , so backup QB shouldn't be an issue, but I am still hoping we draft another signal caller, Bethel Thompson has some talent , but maybe we draft a strong pocket passer that has a similar skill set as Kaeperknick , grabbing another QB to develop would be a great insurance policy to insure future success and quality

reserve ILB ...Bowman will obviously miss some time , and I'm fairly confident a platoon of Moody and Wilhoite can get the Job done until he returns, but if there is a chance to draft an ILB that can contribute from day one, we need to pounce on the opportunity

# 3 WR ...we really shouldn't anoint Patton the #3 WR right now , there is room for improvement and the need for an explosive playmaker is still there , which is why we will draft a receiver with one of our first 4 picks IMO

reserve Center : Kilgore has been waiting for this chance for a long time , and I know Looney will probably get some snaps in pre season at center, but if we can draft a talented center that could also double as a guard, our offensive line depth will be stronger than any other teams in the NFL

what are your thoughts?

Wright and Brock as starters should really scare people. I'm serious. Brock is good but he is a better #2 or #3 CB. Wright as a starter is downright scary if you ask me.

Return specialist! Seattle has Harvin, Arizona has Patrick Peterson and Ginn, Rams have Austin so who do we have James!

agreed, I wouldn't want to go into the season with what we have now, chances are we wont grab a veteran CB , so it's possible Brock & Wright will be have to provide veteran leadership, but we could still draft a couple CB's before we hit the 4th round, bringing in young top shelf talent at CB will go a long way towards improving our secondary

While I get the argument and would like to have a burner like Archer; James actually had a better return stats than those guys(w/the exception of Harvin who only had 1 attempt for 50+ yards). James didn't get as many attempts to return as the others but when he did he averaged more yards. With that said if he wants to go I would trade him for picks and grab a burner who can return and add WR depth!

James wont be leaving anytime soon

I hope it works out. It might not too. We took a big risk when we let so many CB's go. And now the Culliver arrest and multiple felony charges really complicates things. We need at least 2 CB's and real high IMO. 1st and 2nd round. Good thing we have two 2nds this year. Maybe we can do something different with the other 2nd rounder. But I'd say 2 out of the first 3 picks almost absolutely have to be CB.
The biggest need for this team is a #1 CB. Brock is a very talented guy but not yet #1 material. So if you have a chance to trade up for Dennard...you take it and send a thank you card for each of his all pro seasons. Aaron Colvin with pick number 100 wouldn't be a bad move either.

BTW...Justin Gilbert may be the bust of the draft.
I want to see a dynamic kick/punt returner. Our returners have been pathetic since Ginn left

I'm with you on that as well. It's not a good tandem. Culliver off the injury isn't that appealing to me either. Hopefully they ball out and a rookie steps in and contributes. But many rookie CB's take a lot of lumps early.

And I would add #2 tight end to this list.

Vance McDonald is good...Kaep needs to look his way a little more. His blocking was outstanding and that's usually what takes TEs the longest to learn. We do need a #3 tho. That I will agree with.
We have enough picks in the top 100 to add competition to the top of the depth charts (especially CB) and squeeze out the bottom of the depth charts that way.
IMO...if Dennard somehow gets past Pittsburgh at 15...Baalke is jumping all over it.

Especially when you consider last season we released Cox, brought him back and he played ahead of Wright. Brock is fine and I think we were counting on Culliver to be our other starter and now that's a mess. We need to draft a CB who is starter material and another top quality CB as well for depth.
