It really sheds some light on where we will be going with re: to needs and most of these players should be available around where we pick too. So we have 56+ visits tallied so far so of the 11 picks, you've got to conclude a good number of our picks will come from this list.

Anyone remember the correlation to last year's picks?

NCommand you lazy b*****d -- I've mentioned it 5 times in the past 6 pages.

Last year we drafted/signed as UDFA 6 of the 37 players were known to have met with or hosted in any fashion. Which is a percentage of 16% of visits. Making it 6 of a total 11 selections that we met with or just over 50% of the picks.

I lost last 2012s numbers but it was comparable number....

Meaning that if we hold true to this then 9 of our selections will be players we met with however, taking into account that we will likely deal around picks I would drop that # closer to 6 or 7 which is still in line with #s from last season.

Just wondering if in recent past how many of the visiting players were actually drafted by Niners?

Is it another smokescreen for the most part? I don't think Reid visited last year?

.....2 posts up......... We signed/drafted 6 of 37 players we met with during the pre-draft process last season. That number doesn't include Chuck Jacobs who obviously caught the teams eye at the 2 USU games they scouted and participated in the SF area 49ers pro day also Kevin McDermott who they got to be the Long Snapper or any other players I'm possibly forgetting.

For the umpteenth time of this thread. We consistently use roughly 50% of our selections on roughly 20% of the players the FO meets with. The remaining selections are used on players that the FO was being discreet with because Baalke has been on record saying that "usually the first time you see a player on the field your gut is right so there is no need to bring them in for visits or workouts".

The 9ers essentially use meetings to do any pertinent digging or to create their own personnel file, a la Blain Gabbert, in case they have the opportunity to sign them later to potentially reference for game planning and work outs/visits to do medical checks.

One notable addition to the list today.

Cody Latimer

Also Barrows did say that Aldon Smith did visit us prior to the draft

Pre-draft visit?
2010: Anthony Davis - yes
2010: Mike Iupati - yes
2011: Aldon Smith - yes
2012: A.J. Jenkins - yes
2013: Eric Reid - no. (**my opinion** and also stated by 49ers.com via Harbaugh***) Only because Harbaugh had extensive recruiting knowledge and they scouted him so intensely during his sophomore campaign that Baalke knew he wanted him no matter what.

- Matt Barrows

---
Local pro day day is important this year for many reasons including
- We gave the son of a legend (Montana) multiple opportunities and will likely do so again with Jerry Rice, Jr.
- Chuck Jacobs officially won our FO over after being scouted twice during the season and landed on the PS, so it'll be interesting to see who that player is this year.
- This looks like the year we will almost definitely draft a Stanford player with needed depth at every level of defense and tons of Stanford players coming out that will be day 2 even day 3 picks
- The team also got a look at a lot of notable RB prospects and with this LMJ madness and the 3 RBs we used official visits on....who knows what could happen?!

So with 10 days left.....Is our 1st round selection on that list or is 2014 going to be like 2013 and be a player that did not visit the 9ers or have almost any contact with like Reid??? That is the real question.

haha thanks. I mentioned it in another post and then in the post above but we also signed Chuck Jacobs after seeing him at the local pro day and had scouts at 2 utah state games in 2012.

Admittedly I think they were for QB Chuckie Keeton because he almost surely would've declared this year if he didn't blow out his leg, but oh well the overall % change is negligible but it does show the the local pro day was instrumental to 1 player making this team.

50% is a high number, no doubt but it makes perfect sense. The rest, we either don't know about or they were very comfortable with the film, backed by the position coaches and the background teams investigations (gold star).
so i guess there is a good chance our first round pick will be one of the guys who visited us?

No visit with Bruce Ellington?

One of the 49ers top scouts attended South Carolina's Pro Day, no telling who they were looking at but its possible that there's some interest in Ellington.
