After signing Cox we have at least a little depth in every position where we could possibly go BPA with our first pick, then fill in weak areas with high potential type guys. I agree though that we should start off with WR-CB or CB-WR. I think Cox played well enough in his limited time and if the FO believes in Cully and Brock(and to a lesser extent Cook and Wright), then I think we should aim for a high upside WR like Beckham. I'd be happy with him and Patton in the future no matter what happens with Crab and Boldin. Free agency actually played out alright in the sense that we don't have a glaring need anywhere that is a must fill in the first round. With that flexibility Baalke can do his thing and maneuver around. It will definitely be interesting to see how the board shakes out in the first two days!

He is an awesome guy, those accusations hawk fans created about showing how Wilson is a good christian kid and Kap is some tatted guy who is into his shoes is so far off.
He seems like it, those accusations were stupid. Find a young kid with a bunch of money that isn't into fashion these days would be a very rare thing

When your TE is your deep threat. Enough said.
Like I said to someone else you draft receiver to contribute down the road. Rookies don't produce. If Crabtree bolts and we're relying on a rookie next year that's going to be some serious growing pains.

That's debatable.
I think there are many WR/TE prospects that would be able to produce on our team right away.

If you have a stud you can get 700-800 yards out of them. It's going to be a significant drop off from Crabtree though. Receivers take time to develop. Look at Crabtree and Davis it really wasn't until both of their 4th years that they started displaying their full potential and not just glimpses of what they could do. Others develop faster but it's rare to see a rookie receiver just coming in and not having some growing pains.

I think with today's comments Harbaugh, this thread is put to rest. Here's to an evolving offense that can finally put us over the hump.

If you are talking about him saying we are looking for one more WR/offensive playmaker I agree

I would agree with you here, although I think I put more blame on the Singletary coaching staff than the actual players themselves
I think with this years hopefully "new" offensive scheme, it will allow Kap to pass more and give us a 3rd option
This is the year!

That and his comments about the 3 WR sets were interesting. Also hinted about how they want to evolve the offense now after Kaep has got his feet wet.

I hope their also looking for a receiver to replace the possibly departing Crabtree.

I assume they will. Boldin's contract is only for 2 years also, so I'm sure it's in their long term plans

Phoenix49er started a thread about Bruce Ellington and Kronic started a thread about Devin Street . Now these are two guys with very similar measurables and skill sets as Cooks and Moncrief that will probably be available in the 3rd round or later. That way we can use our 1st and 2nd round picks on CB, DL, ILB or CB, CB, ILB or whatever . With such a deep draft of receivers we don't need to grab one to early. Oh and Street has far better hands than Moncrief and might be a better route runner.

Why do people keep pretending that when you have Boldin, Crabtree, and Patton, your problem is not wide receiver? Where is the outside guy with elite speed, something that almost all teams have? Literally, the only thing missing from the Niner offense is a wide receiver who can force secondaries to respect the long throw. They've got V. Davis, but a 1-deep safety formation with a fast safety is all defenses need to deal with that.
Cooks, Beckham, Moncrief, Bryant - the Niners don't have a wide receiver on the roster who can run with any of these guys. I think the Niners will go corner in the first round unless Cooks or Beckham drops to them and they'll go for Moncrief or Bryant with one of their second round picks. They're not going to go corner, corner, corner. They need a real good corner, they need a speed receiver and they need more depth at both positions.
