how much should a players school factor in their overall evaluation

so do you stay away from USC receivers?

It's pointless. Purdue as a school leads all QB producing schools in wins, league titles, TDs, and yards. They have a QB that's eligible to be drafted (Rob Henry) this year. By this theory, we should draft him solely on school because of the records Purdue has. When, in fact, Henry is a horrible Qb and shouldn't even sniff an NFL roster. School should play no part in scouting a player. They should be scouted as individuals, not by who failed or succeeded at that school.

Are the records you mention for Purdue QB's NFL records? The point is are stats equal in college or are some players stats possibly inflated because of the school, competition, system they are in. When Spurrier was coaching in florida his WR's had huge numbers but they consistantly bombed in the NFL.

You scout everything. Players combine stats, height, weight, speed, strength, drills. Production in college. Game film. Interview. Performance in various match-ups. Performance against top competition. Everything.

It isn't a deal breaker but I would have to believe a scouting report takes in to account that the last 3 WR's drafted from a certain school with big numbers all were busts. How could it not make you wonder if the player is as good as his stats appear?
Xela hit it...it's who they play, a big reason so many SEC players succeed in the NFL. It's one reason I've cautioned some mocksters about taking Devante Adams too high. He's had a great college career, but Fresno St. plays in the MWC, definitely not known for playing much defense.
