Kind of a fantasy draft, and would depend on a lot of things going my way. Example, Roby falling out of the first, Adams falling to late second, etc. Im not versed on trade values, so i went with a third to move up in the second and snag Roby.
1. Brandin Cooks-
2a. (49ers trade a third and second to move up to top of second)- Bradley Roby - CB- 5-11, 192- rJR- Ohio State
2b. Davante Adams- WR- Fresno St.- 6-2, 216 rSO
3a. Weston Richburg- C- Colorado St.- 6-4 300- rSr
3b. Traded in move for Roby
3c. (possible comp) Dakota Dozier- OG- Furman- 6-4, 312- rSr
4. Walt Aikens- CB- Liberty- 6-1 205, Sr
5. Andrew Jackson-ILB-Western Kentucky-6-1, 254.
6. Blaine Gabbert
7a. Gator Hoskins- FB/TE/HB- Marshal- 6-1 244- rJr-
7b. Christian Bryant- S- 5-9, 193, Sr, Ohio State
7c. Ben Gardner- DE- Stanford- 6-4, 277, Sr

2 interior OL in the 3rd ... I think I'm fine going forward with Iupati, Boone, Kilgore, Looney, Netter, and now Martin as interior OL.

Sorry Idaho, gotta give this a
I think Roby's going to be a huge bust, wouldn't draft him, much less trade up for him. Not a big fan of taking two interior offensive linemen that early either, especially with the 49ers having Seymour and Looney already. I think the 49ers would take a safety much earlier to develop behind Bethea. Don't see 2 of their first 3 picks being spent on WR's.
I still love you though, just not this mock draft.

I know what a lot of people think of Roby. I personally like the kid. followed his entire career, and i think he will be a solid player in the nfl. I know he isaint very popular around here, doesnt bug me.
I knew going into the mock that a lot of people wouldnt like the oline picks. Just like with my last mock, people argued about me taking a T early.
I dont think Iupati comes back, and im not sold on our C depth, or even Kilgore as a long term solution at the position.
I debated long and hard about taking a S in the mid rounds, but i just think there is more value elsewhere. Spend a flyer on Bryant, and then next years draft look to possibly upgrade the position.
Crabtree- Boldin- Cooks- Patten- Adams. That is a very intriguing and talented WR lineup. We have no idea how the crabtree negotiations will go, and we also dont know when Boldins play will start to decline.

Are Seymour and/or Martin flex guys like Snyder? Heck, will Seymour even make the squad now?

I hope we land Cooks and Moncrief.
Back ups in the safety position is a serious issue. Injuries are not avoidable and if we have to rely on our current back ups to become starters due to injuries (I'm not comfortable with that)... I think we'll get a safety much earlier than the 7th round and one that is not 5'9...

I still have concerns about Cooks' timed speed not showing up on the field, and I think the OL we have on the roster now will be the OL we have on the roster in September. So much about OL is technique. Looney and Martin are talented, and have already been receiving NFL coaching. I can't see a pair of mid-rounders bumping them off the roster.
I am in favor of drafting anyone named Gator for the coolness factor alone.

He stays compact in his stance and when he plants the back foot he really explodes off of it. His broad, vert, and 40 we're top 5 as well. I trust this kid in Donatellis hands.

that's an interesting problem. there's easy speed and there's try-hard speed. there's short-strided, quick turnover speed, which usually ends up being quick acceleration and mediocre top speed; then there's long-strided, low turnover speed having a long acceleration and a fairly high top speed. but, the best of them is fairly long-strided with fairly quick turnover--those are the guys who are world class sprinters over 60 or 100 meters. it is rare talent. we saw a guy with this kind of speed at the combine: his name is dri archer. and this kind of speed is also "easy speed," because the runner starts, accelerates, and maintains speed with an uncanny ease. a gift of birth. bo jackson and deion sanders and chris johnson are other players with this gift of "easy speed." what this means is when they are playing, they don't have to build up opposing tension in there musculature in order to go fast--and that turns into bigtime performance.
"try hard" speed guys can muster great speed but they are not relaxed and the opposing tensions in their muscles diminish their ability to make athletic movements while going fast. vernon davis is a "try hard" speed guy, so is brandin cooks. if you ask them to perform at their track speed while playing football, it isn't going to happen because they have to throttle down in order to also make athletic movements at the same time.
it's too bad archer is so small because he has the kind of "real world" speed to do a lot of damage on the football field. he doesn't have to try to run fast, it just naturally happens with little effort. his size, though, will be a great obstacle to football playmaking. and cooks will be nothing special in the nfl because he's not really that fast when the ball is hiked.

I love it!
first, I like both WRs, and I like that they're different types. Unlike most, I'm also a Roby fan. He's the player that most reminds me of Matheau when I watch him. I like both OL, but I'd agree that 2 are overkill. Big fan of the Aikens and Hoskins picks too. Addresses most needs with good players.

I would also like to see a safety with a little more promise to develop now and provide depth this year. I don't have faith in any of our back ups.
Not sure about trading up for Roby either. Maybe if Fuller were still on the board. If you want Roby I'd wait and see if he fell to us and if not this is a deep CB draft and there are others we could draft who could help us.
