49ers have four 7th Round Picks this year?

Originally I thought the 49ers had 3 7th rounders but according to nfl.com the 49ers have four 7th round picks. Why don't they use them to trade up in round four?

I hope the Niners trade those 7th ronuders too. Any 7th round pick is a really long shot to make the team anyway.
No. NFL.com has it wrong. The Colts pick is for Cam Johnson, and it's for next year. Not this year.
Yeah Maiocoo had changed the Johnson 7th from this year and said it is for next year. Why can't we trade them for a 4th? Because like Baalke said it's tough moving 6s and 7s even in bundles for higher picks. You would think crappy teams that need players and have roster spots to fill wouldn't mind a 6 and 3 7s for a 4th but they still won't do it. Basically all those 7s are worth besides using them is for an extra little bit in a trade package or to move up a spot or two. You might be able to give a couple 7s to move up a handful of spots in the 6 or 7th round but would be hard to find a team looking to get rid of 4s or 5s for a bunch of 6s or 7s.

They're also not worth a whole lot for the very reason you stated. Nothing wrong with using those picks on long-shots or injured "pick and stash" players that won't be ready until late in the year or in 2015.

I think injury picks are the way to go. Other teams just raid the Niners PS players.
On average 3 picks ( 1 early, 1 mid and 1 late) in a round are worth 1 pick 2 rounds sooner. A 4th round pick is worth about three 6th round picks ect. Give or take. Our 7th round picks are late and if you look at the draft pick value chart the point value of our 6th round pick is slightly higher than all 3 of our 7th round picks put together. A 4th rd pick is worth about 10 times as much as 1 of our 7th rounders.

I would rather use our 7th rounders for some pup list guys or a specialist like an H-Back or a return man or trade them for 2015 6th rd picks than trade them for one 6th rounder this year.
7th round is going to be LOADED this year. Guys like Gator Hoskins, Quincy Enuwa, Damian Copeland, Bene Benwikere, Aaron Colvin, Philip Gaines (probably elevated his stock though), Jemea Thomas, Logan Thomas, Marqueston Huff, Stephen Morris, Jeff Matthews, Brett Smith, Connor Shaw, De'Anthony Thomas, Lorenzo Taliaferro and many many more could be available in the 7th. Really deep draft this year.

Gaines was never a 7th rounder. In his bowl game, the announcer was mentioning that scouts saw Gaines as a 3rd-5th rounder...and that was before he blew up the combine. The public at large hadn't heard about him, but apparently scouts had.
They should trade them all and move up. But other teams know they are worthless too so why would they trade for a bunch of 7th round picks. They don't want to do that of course.

DeAnthony Thomas in the 7th. Come on man.... He runs a 4.3. Somebody will take him much, much higher.

I'd take him in the 4th. Mostly a returner, could use him on some gadget plays and bubble screens on offense. Kind of like a miniature Harvin.

I think he can go in the 4th. Maybe higher. LaMichael James was somewhat over drafted. Or a lot over drafted. I see him as a potentially better LaMichael James. A faster, more explosive return man.

Although it'd be tough for a 7th rounder to make the roster we've had some pretty good picks in the latter rounds and rookie free agent signings lately so I'm not opposed to keeping all three (though my preference would be to trade up).

Typically I agree with you, 7th round picks are flyers and most of the time not much different from UDFAs. BUT this year is one of the deepest drafts ever meaning the players taken in that round could have value and or teams could be willing to take a bundle of 6th/7th rounders for earlier round pick.
