AB's Final Mock Offseason before Free Agency Starts

The cap tables are in this link below.

http://ninercaphell.com/mock-offseason/

With just a few days left until the opening of free agency, I thought I would do my last mock offseason.

What has happened since the last mock:

FS Craig Dahl restructured his contract, saving the team $600,000 in salary cap space.

WR Jon Baldwin took a pay cut, reducing his $1.4 million salary down to $645,000, saving the team $755,000 in salary cap space.

C Daniel Kilgore was signed to a 3-year extension, with a $1.35 million signing bonus, and only took away $337,500 from the 49ers 2014 salary cap space.

The 49ers signed 13 players to reserve/future contracts. those players are below.

QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson
RB Jewel Hampton
WR Devon Wylie
WR DeMarco Sampson
WR David Reed
WR Chuck Jacobs
OG Al Netter
OT Carter Bykowski
DT Christian Tupou
NT Mike Purcell
CB Dax Swanson
SS D.J. Campbell
P Colton Schmidt

Now onto my mock offseason.

The 49ers have the following players are scheduled to be free agents.

UFAs:

QB Colt McCoy
RB Anthony Dixon
WR Anquan Boldin
WR Mario Manningham
WR Kassim Osgood
C Jonathan Goodwin
CB Tarell Brown
CB Eric Wright
SS Donte Whitner
PK Phil Dawson

RFAs:

DE Demarcus Dobbs
CB Perrish Cox

EFAs:

ILB Michael Wilhoite

Now I believe the 49ers will at least tender Wilhoite at the league minimum $570,000 for this season.

I also believe the 49ers will retain Boldin, and Dawson.

My mock contracts for Boldin and Dawson are below.

Boldin signs a 3-year deal, worth $18 million, which is a $6 million a year average.

He received a $6 million signing bonus, which prorates to $2 million a year. He also gets yearly $250,000 roster bonuses, and $100,000 workout bonuses.

2014- $1 million base salary, plus $2 million prorated bonus, plus $250,000 roster bonus, and $100,000 roster bonus = $3.35 million
2015- $4 million base salary, plus $2 million prorated bonus, plus $250,000 roster bonnu, and $100,000 roster bonus = $6.35 million
2016- $5.95 million base salary, plus $2 million prorated bonus, plus $250,000 roster bonus, and $100,000 roster bonus = $8.3 million

His 1st year base salary is guaranteed, his 2nd year base is guaranteed for $2 million, and his 3rd year is non-guaranteed.

He has a total of $9 million guaranteed, which is more than Reggie Wayne's guarantees in his 3-year deal worth $17.5 million.

Dawson signs a 1-year deal, worth $2.5 million, with a $1 million signing bonus, a $100,000 workout bonus, and a $1.4 million base salary.

After these moves the 49ers have $8,265,485 in cap room.

Next up is the release of CB Carlos Rogers, saving the team $5.105 million.

This now gives the 49ers $13,370,954 in salary cap space.

I believe these moves will be made before free agency starts or right as free agency begins.

I believe the 49ers will pick up Aldon Smith's 2015 5th-year option, worth $9.754 million, which doesn't hurt the 2014 salary cap in any way.

Next up is a new deal for Donte Whitner, I believe a 3-year deal, worth $15 million, a $5 million average.

Details below.

He receives a $6 million signing bonus, prorating at $2 million a year.

2014- $1 million base, $2 million prorated bonus, $250,000 roster bonus, and $100,000 workout bonus = $3.35 million
2015- $3 million base, $2 million prorated bonus, $250,000 roster bonus, and $100,000 workout bonus = $5.35 million
2016- $3.95 million base, $2 million prorated bonus, $250,000 roster bonus, and $100,000 workout bonus = $6.3 million

Whitner gets his 1st year base guaranteed, and 2nd year is guaranteed for $1.5 million, a total of $8.5 million guaranteed.

This move leaves us at $10,515,954 under the cap.

Next up is an extension for Bruce Miller.

Miller reduces his $1.389 million base back down to $645,000, and converts the money into a signing bonus.

Miller gets a 4-year extension, worth $9.15 million, with a $2.5 million signing bonus, and $250,000 roster bonuses from 2015-2018.

2014- $645,000 base salary, $500,000 prorated bonus = $1.145 million
2015- $800,000 base salary, $500,000 prorated bonus, $250,000 roster bonus = $1.55 million
2016- $900,000 base salary, $500,000 prorated bonus, $250,000 roster bonus = $1.65 million
2017- $1 million base salary, $500,000 prorated bonus, $250,000 roster bonus = $1.75 million
2018- $2 million base salary, $500,000 prorated bonus, $250,000 roster bonus = $2.75 million

This leaves the team at $10,759,954 under the cap.

Next up is an extension for Colin Kaepernick.

I believe the 49ers will go one of two routes, a short term 4-year deal, or a long term deal through 2019.

For this mock, I will go with the long term deal.

Kap gets a new 7-year deal(6-years added onto his last year under contract), worth an average of $18 million, or $108 million total.

Kap gets a $20 million signing bonus, prorated over the first 5 years at $4 million a year.

Structure is below.

2014- $1 million base, $4 million prorated bonus, $100,000 workout bonus = $5.1 million
2015- $10 million base, $4 million prorated bonus = $14 million
2016- $12.5 million base, $4 million prorated bonus = $16.5 million
2017- $15 million base, $4 million prorated bonus = $19 million
2018- $14 million base, $4 million prorated bonus = $18 million
2019- $18 million base = $18 million
2020- $18.5 million base = $18.5 million

In my opinion, this deal is cap friendly, and Kap gets the money he deserves, as he has a bright future ahead of himself.

After all these moves have been made, we are still $6,733,720 under the salary cap for 2014.

I'll leave it at this. I would say it will take about $5 million for draft picks who make the final roster.

Note: I am going conservative on cap limits, I think they will raise higher, but unsure of how much.

Please leave comments, and let me know how I did.

My Mock Draft is added now below.

Rd 1

Pick 30 - WR Brandin Cooks, Oregon State

Rd 2

Pick 24 - CB Kyle Fuller, Virginia Tech

Pick 29 - SS Jimmie Ward, Northern Illinois

Rd 3

Pick 13 - CB Keith McGill, Utah

Pick 30 - WR Jared Abbrederias, Wisconsin

Rd 6

Pick 29 - QB Jeff Matthews, Cornell

Rd 7

Pick 27 - FB J.C. Copeland, LSU

Future Years Cap Room and Limit:

2015- $140M cap, $5,713,658 in cap room
2016- $150M cap, $50,759,672 in cap room

2018- $165M cap, $124,291,000 in cap room

Is there a mock to follow this up?

I'm debating it. I probably will do one later. My picks would be a CB, WR, WR, SS, OG, CB, QB, not in those orders, just somehow. Also a OT and ILB.

I'll add a Mock Draft to it in a few minutes.
You should be hired by the 49ers no joke. Amazing.
Fantastic job as always AB! I really hope it goes like you said, getting Boldin, Whiter & Dawson resigned. Extending Kaep & Miller extended and picking up the 2015 option on Aldon is perfect. With the future cap increases I really think this team is set up even with Kaep's rising salary to keep a very good talent base.

Quick question.....You don't have any outside FAs here which is fine w/me, I doubt we sign any notable players, just wondering if you project absolutely nobody or what?

Probably a vet QB like Henne would work. I hate projecting outside FA signings. Probably a 1yr deal worth like $2M for Henne.

I added a mock, will adjust the tables now.
Don't need a C - good move and smart draft.
Excellent work as always, AB. Love 4 of your top 5 picks and I wouldn't be upset about Jimmie Ward either.

Agreed. After re-signing Kilgore, I firmly believe they intend to let their youngsters compete for the backup positions. Ryan Seymour, the signee off the Seattle practice squad was a very good developmental prospect coming out of Vandy and played both guard and center. Looney if I recall also took reps at center for us last off-season.

I expect our center position to feature competition between Kilgore, Looney, Seymour, and maybe another UDFA (barring a player that falls that we feel is too good to pass on).
