Ghost...like it a lot. I live in Colorado Springs, so understand how good Richburg is...hear about him a lot, just not sure we really need him. With Goodwin gone, I'd love to see Looney take over. Fans haven't seen JL in action that much, but this guy's got all the makings of a beast. And Harbaugh & Baalke are very impressed with his intelligence, a prerequiste for the position. The flip side is assuming they let Iupati walk (have to keep giving "thanks" to the Titans for signing Levitre to 6 hr -$47M contract), they could well plug Looney in at LG. Ryan Seymour could become the swing OG/C this season...dude played all OL positions at Vanderbilt. I like Herron, too. We need a speed guy even the best CB's will have difficulty covering. Saw him play the last few years...Wyoming's producing more & more good players for the NFL. I like their QB, Smith, too.
Love the Joyner, McGill, Austin CB trio. I was kind of on the fence WRT Joyner, but as you pointed out, they can move him to SS. The more I learn about him, this kid's a real baller. We're pretty much on the same page WRT signing a vet CB...my guy is Nolan Carroll, 6-1, 205 from Miami. Either way, having a rising vet is great insurance. Not sold either Cox or Wright will be back. I do like Cox's versatility as a CB and KR, though.
Although it's gotten little to no press, I think it's important Baalke sign a vet to b/u Kap. I'd love Josh McCown...whom we had a couple of years ago, but let him go because we still had Alex. He's so good at understanding his role and keeping the offense at a high level while the starter's out. Clemens wouldn't be bad, either. As for drafting one, I'm kind of on the fence. If Baalke takes one, probably not earlier than 5th rd or so.

Looney is definitely a bit of a wild card in this whole thing, but ultimately I think his future is LG. My sense is, we'll give Looney an extension sometime this year (like we did with Boone before he became a starter), allow Iupati to walk after the season (purely a matter of cap space) and have Looney replace him at LG. Again, just my opinion.
So that leaves us with Kilgore and Seymour as our centers. I just don't see that as being enough talent at that very critical position on the line, so grabbing a young talent like Richburg gives us the right insurance should Kilgore prove a liability at center. I honestly don't know enough about Seymour to say either way, but Richburg could also be a swing guy (played mostly center in college, but also some guard and tackle). So I like the idea of having Looney backup Iupati, Richburg backup Kilgore and Boone on the interior and keeping Seymour on the practice squad just in case. That would leave Snyder to focus on backing up Staley and Davis at tackle.
I also agree that if we do go after a QB, it will either be late in the draft or signing a veteran like they did last year.
I struggled on whether to keep Perrish Cox or not because he can definitely be useful, but I like the way Ghee played before he got hurt and think he's a real diamond in the rough with more upside than Cox. Carroll is definitely an option too, though he might be more expensive than we'd like/can afford.

Technically, they do/did carry two FBs (Tukuafu) on occasion. But that aside, Millard is somewhat of a pick-and-stash guy like Tank and Lattimore. He'll start on the PuP and can either be activated later in the season if needed or be ready to go in 2015 when Miller is a free agent. Btw, Miller, as good as he is, pales in comparison to the things that Millard can do when healthy.
I'd rather cut the amount of our RBs down to three, we don't use them anyway.

Millard can definitely be an H-back, but he's clearly also a FB with excellent lead blocking skills and the ability to be a threat in the passing game and as a ball carrier. No offense to Miller, but Millard brings more skills and athleticism to the FB position.

Good point. Millard could definitely be a Dixon replacement as he was often used in the OU power run formation as a RB.

For what it's worth, NFL.com draft analyst Bucky Brooks on Herron's Senior Bowl practices (1/24/14):
Wyoming WR Robert Herron: Herron opened eyes in the scouting community with his speed, quickness and route-running skills. He was untouchable in 1-on-1 drills against big, physical corners, showing exceptional burst and separation quickness. In addition, Herron used a variety of stems and releases to stack defenders at the top of the route to create separation with hard plants and head fakes. Herron's surprising polish as a route runner took me by surprise based on his reputation as a speed demon. If he continues to impress as a slot receiver with big-play ability, Herron could make a huge jump on the boards heading into the NFL combine and pro-day workouts.

Would hump your leg if the draft went down like this, can't really complain much at all.
Aikens, McGill and Joyner, serious talent in the secondary, an instant impact player in Joyner and two guys to develop over time.
Herron to spread defense's out and keep them honest.
Easley to develop and red-shirt.
Millard as the team's future "all-everything" guy on offense.
I'd be very happy if it went down like this.

Millard is more athletic, faster and a far more natural receiver. The sort of stuff that Roman was trying to do with Miller would be far more effective with Millard who is also a much better running threat. Basically, Millard's ceiling goes beyond that of Bruce Miller.

The 5'8" corner is an absolute playmaker of the highest caliber. Were he a few inches taller he'd be a Top 10 pick easily. Physical against the run, high quality tackler, very good in coverage, matches up very well with slot receivers. You can never have enough true playmakers in the secondary.
The 5'9" receiver has something that this lacks almost completely on offense....speed and a lot of it, the ability to beat defender's in the short zone as well as deep downfield. Seeing TY Hilton tear up the Seahawks secondary, do you think the Colts regret blowing a pick on a guy who is barely 5'10"?
