This kid needs to be our #1 pick! He has the tenacity of Earl Thomas. Thank God Gilbert and Dennard will go before him. Once they go, we must trade picks to move up for him, like we did last year when Vaccaro went off the board. With our second pick, we should go for a top receiver. Watkins/Lee/Evans will be long gone but I hope we can pick up Beckham, adds speed and an extra dimension to our passing and returning game. In the realistic word, a Gilbert or Watkins would be perfect but that ain't going to happen. Anyway, other than picking up a C and a backup QB, we should be good.

Some alternatives: McGill (dude has 33 1/4 " arms and 10 1/4" hands, Fuller 5-11/6.0 @ 190+, Joyner (only 5-8 but a studly 195 lbs).
He's 5'9" and 190, I wouldn't consider that smallish. If he was in the 170's as expected then sure, but at 190 he's got a solid build. Take a look at a guy like Cortland Finnegan who aside from being an a*****e, has generally done well as an NFL cornerback. He's 1 inch taller than Verrett and about 10 pounds lighter.

I see Verrett being the type of DB in our D that if he does get beat for a TD he would have good close coverage it would just be a perfect throw and catch from the offense. His coverage skills seem really good i don't see him getting burnt for TD's. He ran a 4.38 at the combine i see him being able to go step for step with wide out's and have close coverage. Hes aggressive in coverage not so aggressive in the run game but if he can shut out receivers that would help a lot. I see him being there in the 25-32 range they need to grab him there. If we re sign Boldin a good receiver can be had in the 2nd round to go along with Crabtree Boldin Patton.

i like the pick at 30 if we go this direction. arriving at the combine weighing 190 and still showing speed and explosion really helped his stock, too.

I agree. He looked like a stud.

possibly already mentioned on here, but a reminder that Verrett played with a torn labrum last season. March 17th is his scheduled surgery.

Its the same surgery that Milliner had as well. If anything, playing with that injury speaks to Verrett's toughness.

Phoenix, i figured you'd know more than me since i didn't get the chance to watch a lot of TCU games, but who do you compare Verrett too? as far as style and technique?
remember reading somewhere that he could end up being another Kyle Wilson

Alterraun Verner of the Titans....seriously. Very similar players in college, Verner is a little taller at 5'10" but has a similar build, similar instincts. He was one of the very best CB's in the NFL this past season too.
Another guy is a more athletic version of Brandon Flowers of the Chiefs, faster with better leaping ability and agility.

Verrett vs Baylor. He was on Goodley like Stickum. Limited to 1 catch for 12 yards, by far his worst game of the season.

Verner was a #1 CB for the Titans and is about to cash in on a hefty free-agency pay day. If Verrett can be a similar level of player, 49ers would make out like bandits by drafting him.

You say it man. As soon as he checked in at 189 i was sold !
I´m still high on Joyner as i think those numbers today were expected.
Also Watkins put up terrific numbers this weekend too. And answered a few questions i had on him.
But if Verrett is still there in the 20 - 30 range i would not think twice. Just a terrific prospect ! Brock, Culliver, Verrett, Reid, Whitner with dudes like Aldon, Justin etc up front Thats not even fair
