1. Davonte Adams (if we bring back Q, we don't know how long he'll be the same guy, and Crab could bounce after 2014)
2a. Odell Beckham (Oh no you didn't, oh YES I DID! Speed, my friend. Speed. Our offense needs it, and only our QB and TE have it.)
2b. Ed Reynolds (our safety positions can suposedly swap out, and he'd be great to pair with Reid if Whitner splits)
3a. Kyle Fuller (athletic CB who can develop behind starters
3b. Aaron Murray (perfect career backup)
3c. Deone Buchannon (double up on athletic safeties. Playmaker who falls because NO ONE can stand to watch the Cougars.)

As I have read and reread this thread, it dawned on me that you managed to put forward a very controversial topic in the least polemical form imaginable.
Good work. I commend you.
Thank you!!!

Draft 2
1. Sammy Watkins WR- we trade our 1st, both 2nds and a our third
3. (Titans pick) Dion Bailey, Ahmad Dixon or Deone Bucannon SS again in that order and who's available
3. (Comp) Stanley-Jean Baptiste CB- Tall long arm CB converted from WR. Still raw, but huge upside and excellent ball skills. Perfect developmental CB assuming we re-sign Wright, Cully comes back healthy and he and Brock start.

Lattimore and Carradine might as well be included as draft picks for 2014

1. CB / Jason Verrett (TCU) * biggest CB need is a a slot guy.. this guy is an excellent candidate *
2. WR / Odell Beckham Jr. (LSU) * sadly have to trade one of our 3rds to move up for this in rd 2 *
2. OG / Gabe Jackson (Mississippi St) * ideal to take over for Iupati in 2015 *
3. QB / Jimmy Garroppolo (E.Illinois) * he's a baby poor-man's-Kaep *
3. S / Ahmad Dixon (Baylor) * impressive combo of skills to be the eventual SS replacement *

Very true, dang near Patton as well but he might get some time in the playoffs or these last few weeks. Also, I'm wondering if they think Luke Marquardt can take that 3rd Tackle spot. Bykowski looks like average joe muscle wise and would have to gain a lot of muscle to have a chance imo.
Side note I'll have to look at Ahmad Dixon more since so many of you like him. My first thought was play stiff and looks like a LB out there. Not sure I'd trust him in coverage. I know SS aren't expected to have a lot of INTs but not liking his numbers and PD, FF stats as well. I want guys who produce in college, guys who can get turnovers. If we would take him though maybe he is a 3rd-5th round type guy like Bryant or Parker that we develop if we re-sign Whitner for a year or 2. If Whitner is not re-signed we probably have to take a guy sooner and look for an instant starter.

So for starters if we trade up I'd trade up for Sammy Watkins. I see some have put Kelvin Benjiman in their 2nd and what would be late 2nd round picks, thats just not happening. My draft would focus more on offense since last season we focused more on defense. So with no trades I'd try to pull this off.
1. Kelvin Benjiman FSU WR - big body, redzone and deep pass ability.
2. Louchiez Purifoy FLA CB - without a doubt the best player on the Floridas defense.
2. Odell Beckham Jr. WR LSU - Can electrify our return game and become a Percy Harvin type player, hopefully he'd be more healthy then Percy.
3. Ahmad Dixon SS Baylor - Future starting Strong Safety.
3. Tajh Boyd QB Clemson - Seasoned vet, can be a great backup to Kaepernick with similar abilities. We wouldnt have to change a thing if Kap were to get injured.
3(comp) Bishop Sankey RB Washington - I like Hunter but I'd love this guy instead, we have no true replacement for Gore when he retires. Obviously Lamike isnt the answer and its hard to put all our pennies in the Lattimore bucket. Sankey is a beast runner.

This is what I would do if I the 49ers trust me for the 2014 upcoming draft.
1) Sammy Watkins, WR - Clemson (will do what I can in order to move up and trade for this guy)
2) Ahmad Dixon, SS - Baylor (you just feel the "it" in him everytime you watch him play)
2) D'Anthony Thomas, Athlete - Oregon (This is just one of those football players who can be a game changer whatever position you put him on offense)
3) LaMarcus Joyner, DB - FSU - (to be honest here, I didn't see any defensive player in college who's made more impact game in and game out)
NOTE: if no team would trade so that I can land Watkins, then I'll take the 2nd best WR in college in Marquiz Lee of USC.

We try to keep Whither if he agrees to a friendly deal, and Boldin as well but still draft a couple wr and dbs. Our pass rushing ability is near invisible lately hopefully dial and carradine could help, along with williams. Negotiate Gore, for one more year and have him split carries with Lattimore. Hoping Roman gets a head coaching job somewhere. We have waste of talent in Hunter and James. Rogers, baldwin, goodwin, brown, manningham are gone.
If we grab Dennard round 1.....
Round 1- If Dennard (CB) is around at 20 trade down and grab him - Lockdown Corner
Round 2a- Trade for 4th this year and something next year
Round 2b- Buccanon (SS) - Would be a perfect replacement, hard hitter, great in coverage.
Round 3a- Moncreif (WR) - Good route Runner not crazy speed but reminds me a bit of Crabtree.
Round 3b- Moses (OT) - Seems to have a high ceiling and huge frame, We allow to much pressure this year.
Round 3c- Trade away if available
Round 4a- Jean-Baptiste (CB) huge 6'2 220 ballhawk and great man coverage but not the best tackler, let him develop and could have a steal.
just for a QB replacement
Round 4b- L. Washington (WR) Fast Tall. athletic. Game changer sleeper.
Round 6 or something- Logan thomas (QB) Huge, fast, strong arm, but needs work, with our "Qb coach Harbaugh, could possibly work some magic"
and possibly try to find some sleeper DT

Or if Dennard is way out of reach
Round1- Benjamin (wr)
Round2a- fuller (CB) maybe good height and size and speed.
Round 2b- Buccanon (SS) - Would be a perfect replacement, hard hitter, great in coverage.

We just need to make sure we get Big Strong Fast Receivers, not small fast (jenkins), nice corners, buccanon replacement for whither even if whither stays for a year or so. 2 Olineman 1 DT and a Qb is my thoughts.
