Baalke Has a Fetish for Drafting Injured Players

I think Baalke overdoes it with drafting injured players. This year, we used a 2nd, a 4th and a 5th on injured players who haven't helped us this year at all. Last year, he did the same thing with Joe Looney and Cam Johnson. Most rookie contracts are for only 4 years, so getting no production out of a draft pick for one year is significant. When you add in that we have hardly used high draft picks like LaMichael James for two years, and got nothing out of A.J. Jenkins, we are killing ourselves by under-utilizing our draft picks. It doesn't help to accumulate all these draft picks if a lot of them are hardly ever on the field.

Sometimes you get more value out of a later pick if you are willing to let them have time to recover to full strength. Tank and Lattimore could work out good.

But is it a weird fetish like Rex Ryan's foot fetish or German scat fetishes? If not then I'm ok with it.

Yeah, drafting that running back in the 3rd was a huge waste. What was his name? Frank Gore.
Think about it. Aside from the 1st round pick you are lucky to get much production out of your rookies. And we picked up Tank and Lattimore who were reckoned as 1st round material.
What's not to like?

Also, you have to consider the talent on our team. if Tank was 100& healthy he still wouldn't be starting if everybody else was healthy. We can take chances esp on defense because our roster is stacked. Best roster from top to bottom in the NFL. We even got TJE makin plays in primetime.

First, is this in the right forum?
Second, it's all about value with Baalke. Since the Niners already have a talented roster, he can grab injured players later then they would normally go if they were healthy. I'm OK with it.
Third, now if he could work on his WR talent evaluation for next year's draft, I'd be happier.

We have the luxury of taking injured players in the draft because the team is so deep and we stockpile draft picks. We got great value with Carradine and Lattimore. I don't have a problem with it.
Really the only mistake Baalke made was drafting Jenkins. That pick hurt us because we desperately needed a wideout with speed and he failed miserably. It happens even to the best GMs. I give Baalke the benifit of the doubt.

I suspect they will be worth the wait. I think it somewhat ingenious approach. I'm good with it until it doesn't pan out.
