FINAL MOCK

04/25
Posted - 7:00 a.m. ET

This is my final mock for the draft, done with three potential trades and numerous changes from my previous mock. In all the years that I have been involved in the draft and have posted a mock, this by far is the most unpredictable first round that I can ever remember, with as many as 49 prospects that have a chance to hear their name called in the first round tonight. -Al Fronczak

1. Kansas City Chiefs - OT Eric Fisher (Central Michigan)...The Chiefs would love to move down and recoup the second round pick that they dealt to the 49ers in the Alex Smith trade, but will likely find no takers for this pick...the team needs some help on their D-Line and at CB, but they take Fisher the best player on their board to solidify their O-Line especially since Branden Albert is on the block and RT Eric Winston was released...Fisher's athleticism makes him a better fit in the Chiefs blocking scheme.
Team Needs - OT, CB, ILB, D-Line; Offense - West Coast, Zone blocking....Defense - 3-4 scheme, Press man coverage.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Luke Jokiel (Texas A&M)...The Jaguars have needs on both sides of the line at DE and OT, but they go with the safest pick in Jokiel who will help the team cut down on the 50 sacks they allowed last season...with Eugene Monroe on the roster, the Jaguars now have a pair of bookend OT's to help protect their quarterback.
Team Needs - DE, C, OT, CB, OLB; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking....Defense - 4-3 scheme, Press zone coverage.

3. Oakland Raiders - DT Sharrif Floyd (Florida)...Floyd will bring some youth to the middle of the Raiders D-Line with Richard Seymour and Tommy Kelly getting up there in age and the possibility that both will be playing elsewhere in 2013.
Team Needs - DT, OT, OG, CB, MLB; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking....Defense - 4-3 scheme, Press man coverage.

4. Philadelphia Eagles - OT Lane Johnson (Oklahoma)...The Eagles filled a few needs on the defensive side of the ball in free agency and now fill a big need on their offensive line...Johnson has the athleticism that Chip Kelly wants in his linemen and he fills a big need as well...The Eagles have also done a lot of work on QB's Geno Smith and EJ Manuel and could target them later on.
Team Needs - QB, OG, OT, DT, S, CB; Offense - Precision spread option, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 hybrid scheme.

5. Detroit Lions - DE Ezekial Ansah (Brigham Young)...The Lions will be very disappointed if the draft falls this way since they lost out on all three of the top OT's worthy of a top 5 pick...So they take Ansah, a player who was coached by the Lions staff at the Senior Bowl and has arguably the biggest upside of any prospect in the draft.
Team Needs - OT, HB, DE, CB, S; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Press zone coverage.

6. Miami Dolphins - *Trade from Cleveland - OLB Dion Jordan (Oregon)..The Dolphins filled their biggest need in free-agency with the signing of Mike Wallace, but they have a need at LT and the team is negotiating with Chiefs LT Brandon Albert, which would fill their LT need...The Dolphins have extra picks to move up for the player they are targeting while the Browns gladly move back.
Team Needs - HB, WR, OG, OT, CB; Offense - Vertical passing, Zone blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Press man coverag

7. Arizona Cardinals - OG Chance Warmack (Alabama)...The Cardinals could look to trade out of this pick if the draft falls this way but if they can't find a trading partner they take Warmack who they can plug and play from day one. OT D.J. Fluker is also a possibility.
Team Needs - QB, OT, HB, DE, OLB, SS; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, man coverage.

8. Buffalo Bills - QB Matt Barkley (USC)...Barkley is the pick for the Bills new up-tempo WCO and he gets the nod over Nassib because of the intangibles, and his leadership ability since he was a four-year starter and a three-time Captain at USC...Note - The Bills would ideally love to be able to move down in the draft and still get their QB, so a draft day trade is still a possibility.
Team Needs- QB, WR, TE, ILB, OLB, CB; Offense - West Coast up-tempo, Zone blocking. Defense- 3-4 hybrid, press man coverage

9. New York Jets - OLB Barkevious Mingo (LSU)...The Jets need help on the defensive side of the ball especially at the OLB position, and Mingo's athleticism will really appeal to Rex Ryan...as a standup OLB Mingo could provide the team with the pass rusher that Ryan has been seeking since he's come to New York.
Team Needs - QB, RT, OG, ILB, OLB, D-Line; Offense - West Coast, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Press man coverage.

10. Tennessee Titans - OC/OG Jonathan Cooper (North Carolina)...Cooper fills a big need for Mike Munchak's team and is a perfect fit for the Titans zone blocking scheme...Cooper has the ability to play either guard or center for the Titans.
Team Needs - OG, OT, DE, SS, ILB; Offense - Vertical passing, Zone blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Zone coverage.

11. San Diego Chargers - DT Star Lotulelei (Utah)...The Chargers biggest need is at the LT position, but the top LT's are off the board and Tom Telesco, the teams new GM, has a philosophy of drafting the best player available on the board.
Team Needs - OT, OG, CB, OLB, ILB; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Press zone coverage.

12. Cleveland Browns *Trade from Miami - QB Geno Smith (West Virginia)...GM Mike Lombardi is looking for a strong-armed QB to lead his team despite the teams denial that they aren't targeting a quarterback early in the draft...Lombardi isn't as high on Weeden as some might think, and acquiring QB Jason Campbell was just a move to get another strong-armed quarterback added into the mix...By moving down the Browns acquired the second round pick they were seeking - the Dolphins second round pick No. 42.
Team Needs - CB, QB, TE; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 3-4 hybrid, Man coverage.

13. New York Jets (From Tampa) - CB Dee Milliner (Alabama)....The Jets need help on the defensive side of the ball and filled a huge need with their first pick ,and have Milliner sitting here staring them in the face. The Jets could also move down from this pick.
Team Needs - QB, RT, OG, ILB, OLB, D-Line; Offense - West Coast, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 hybrid, Press man coverage.

14. Atlanta Falcons - *Trade from Panthers - DT Sheldon Richardson (Missouri)...The Falcons move up for a player they covet in the draft, and one that they feel will make a huge difference for their defense...Richardson is a difference maker.
Team Needs - DE, CB, O-Line, LB; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Zone coverage.

15. New Orleans Saints - OLB Jarvis Jones (Georgia)...One of the Saints biggest needs is at the LT position since they lost Jermon Bushrod in free agency, but the top left tackles are already off the board...Jones fills a big need for the Saints.
Team Needs - OT, NT, DE, OLB; Offense - Spread offense, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Man coverage.

16. St Louis Rams - WR Tavon Austin (West Virginia)...The Rams are looking for a play maker at the WR position and Austin is their man...He can step in and start from day one and replace Danny Amendola who left in free agency.
Team Needs - HB, OT, WR, S, OLB; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Press zone coverage.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers - WR Corderelle Patterson (Tennessee)...The team will be looking for a replacement for WR Mike Wallace and possibly for Emanuel Sanders as well...Patterson can stretch a defense and give Big Ben a big deep target.
Team Needs - HB, WR, OLB, S, CB; Offense - Vertical passing, zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Press zone coverage.

18. Dallas Cowboys - OT D.J. Fluker (Alabama)... The team is extremely happy that Fluker has slipped through the cracks and waste little time in getting the pick into the commissioner.
Team Needs - S, OLB, OG, OT; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Tampa-2 zone coverage.

19. New York Giants - TE Tyler Eifert (Notre Dame)...The team likes to go with the best available player on their board and Eifert would not only fill a need since Brandon Myers is only in on a one year deal, but he will also rank highly on their board.
Team Needs - TE, LB, CB; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Zone coverage.

20. Chicago Bears - DT Sylvester Williams (North Carolina)...The Bears filled a huge need at LT in free agency and also addressed needs at TE and MLB as well...Williams has the ability to start from day one and compete with Stephen Paea.
Team Needs - MLB, S, WR; Offense - Vertical-precision, Zone blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Man coverage.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - SS Jonathan Cyprian (FIU)...The Bengals will have a huge need at RT if they aren't able to re-sign FA Andre Smith, but Fluker is already off the board and Bengals DC Mike Zimmer worked out Cyprian less than a week before the draft.
Team Needs - SS, OT; Offense - West Coast, Man blocking. Defense - Hybrid 4-3, Man coverage.

22. St. Louis Rams - FS Kenny Vaccaro (Texas)...Vaccaro fills the Rams biggest need at the safety position and gives the team a play maker to solidify the Rams secondary. The team will have to move up from this pick to land Vaccaro. Trade Up
Team Needs - HB, OT, WR, S, OLB; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme. Press zone coverage

23. Minnesota Vikings - DT Datone Jones (UCLA)...The Vikings have needs on the defensive side of the ball on their line and Jones is very capable of playing as a three-technique DT in the Vikings scheme.
Team Needs - WR, OG, MLB, CB; Offense - West Coast Rhythm passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Tampa-2 Zone.

24. Indianapolis Colts - CB Xavier Rhodes (Florida State)..The Colts added some pieces on the defensive side in free agency but still have a need in the secondary at the CB position and Rhodes has slipped to them here.
Team Needs - CB, WR, SS, OT, OG; Offense - West Coast precision, Man blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, man coverage.

25. Minnesota Vikings - (From Seattle) - CB Desmond Trufant (Washington)...The Vikings filled one of their needs with DT Jones with their first pick and take Trufant here to fill a need in their secondary. LB Arthur Brown will be targeted in round two.
Team Needs - WR, OG, MLB, CB; Offense - West Coast Rhythm passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Tampa-2 Zone.

26. Green Bay Packers - FS Eric Reid (LSU)...The Packers could go in several directions with this pick, but since the draft has fallen this way don't be surprised if GM Ted Thompson deals out of this pick and moves down in the draft.
Team Needs - OT, OLB, WR, HB, DE, S; Offense - West Coast precision, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Press man.

27. Houston Texans - OT Menelik Watson (Florida State)...The Texans have several needs including finding another WR in this draft but the WR position is deep and Watson can come in and start at RT from day one and possibly move over to LT in time.
Team Needs - WR, OT, OLB, FS, QB; Offense - West Coast precision, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Press man coverage.

28. Denver Broncos - CB Jamar Taylor (Boise State)..The Broncos have needs on the defensive line, middle linebacker and at cornerback...Taylor would be a great fit in DC Jack DelRio's defensive scheme.
Team Needs - MLB, CB, HB, WR; Offense - Vertical passing, Man blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Man coverage.

29. Philadelphia Eagles *Trade from New England - QB E.J. Manuel (Florida State)...The Eagles were present at Manuel's pro day workout and feel he's a perfect fit for Chip Kelly's offense, so they move up from their 2nd round pick No. 35 overall to land their potential QB of the future...The Patriots are elated to find a trade partner to be able to trade down to No. 35 and much needed picks.
Team Needs - QB, OG, OT, DT, OLB, S, CB; Offense - Precision spread option, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 hybrid scheme.

30. Carolina Panthers *Trade from 49ers - DT Kawaan Short (Purdue)...The Panthers traded down with the 49ers, added picks, and will take Kawaan Short, a player that they have shown intense interest in during the pre-draft process to fill a need on their line.
Team Needs - RT, WR, DT, CB; Offense - Vertical passing, Zone blocking. Defense - 4-3 scheme, Zone coverage.

31. San Francisco 49ers - CB D.J. Hayden (Houston)...The 49ers sent DC Ed Donatel to Hayden's pro day workout on Monday just three days before the draft...They may have to move up to get him, but have plenty of ammunition to do so. Trade Up
Team Needs - NT, S, WR, QB; Offense - Precision read option, Man blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Zone coverage.

32. Baltimore Ravens - OT Terron Armstead (Arkansas Pine-Bluff)...Armstead will be very tempting since he has the smarts and athletic ability that offensive line coaches covet in a left tackle prospect, with the ability to become a perennial pro bowl player at a position that the Ravens would like to address.
Team Needs - WR, NT, OLB, FS; Offense - Vertical passing, Zone blocking. Defense - 3-4 scheme, Press man coverage.

What does vinegar have to do with this?
The firsr 5 picks were great. Then you lost me
I read Fronczak's site and he seems to have good record.

We'll see.
I just can't get on board with taking a corner first when safety and d-line are much higher priorities.

Hayden could cover the slot which the Niners can't do well now. Culliver could move to FS.
No fn way Carolina makes a trade with Atlanta. I wish people at least used common sense and not try to make bold moves that are not logical

Could, but likely wouldn't. I've heard zero credible information that points to any of our current cb's being tried at safety.
