How do you rank the NTs in this years draft from a Niners position? Also how do you rank the DEs for the Niners in this years draft?

Since I think S. Williams will be off the board by 31, let's just say of the remaining NT guys:
1. Jesse Williams (probably will be off the board...but let's pretend he is not)
2. Brandon Williams
3. John Jenkins
4. Johnathan Hankins
5. Montori Hughes

For 34 DE's, excluding the same group of top level guys:
1. Jesse Williams
2. Malliciah Goodman (will need to add 10 more pounds)
3. William Campbell
4. Glenn Foster

I don't consider Margus Hunt a 34 DE. I see him as strictly a 43 DE. Too thinly built, even though he put up a lot of reps at 225..

Datone Jones. I think the guy is a monster. He killed it this year during the regular season, destroyed OL at the Senior Bowl week, and blew it out at the combine.

He would be the guy that I would move up 10 spots for in this draft. I dont see any chance that he will be available at #31.

My thinking as well. I wants Datone J to be a 49er.

Being older it is a little less likely that he'll much weight to his frame.
Datone Jones or Tank Carradine....i'd be happy w/ either but lean a little to Carradine as I can see him dropping due to the ACL injury and we can snag him w/o having to move up

MD,
Please rate the pass rushers? What do you think of Alec Ogletree? IMO, another pass rusher is as much a Niners priority as Dlineman. With all those selections, dol you think Baalke should trade up from #31 for a pass rusher?

Ogletree is an inside linebacker and not someone that would be on the Niners radar I wouldnt think.

Are you excluding Kawann Short or think he's ill-suited for the scheme?
MadDog, thanks again for all the hard work. I was interested to hear from you about Okafor's seeming slide because I really think he is going to be good.
I would love for the team to take him or Tank Carridine at #34 if we can trade up or be able to grab Jessie Williams at #31.
After you and I believe Ghost started mentioning EJ Manuel before the bowl games, I came away impressed with his play.

You don't feel he ( Mike Catapano ) could eventually add lbs and be a Justin Smith type in 2-3 years?

34 OLB Pass rushers (based only on getting after the QB, not the full 34 OLB)
1. Jordan- just touching the surface...fast 10 yard splits
2. Carradine- Great combo of size/strength/speed
3. Okafor- see above for Carradine
4. Cornelius Washington- Underrated stud
5. Mingo- Needs more strength
6. Ansah- Looked overmatched in Senior Bowl practice. Feasted on slow RT's during the game.
7. Werner- see notes on Mingo. I think he is way overrated.

Ogletree is an inside linebacker and not someone that would be on the Niners radar I wouldnt think.
Rob Rang of CBS sports suggested Ogletree will project as an OLB in the NFL.

STRENGTHS: A former safety, Ogletree showed off his terrific range and athleticism, making plays all over the field in 2012 and was often the best player on a defense loaded with NFL talent.Terrific quickness around the edge, capable of making stops in the backfield and is fast in pursuit. Doesn't shy from making the big hit. Arrives with deceiving power and violent intentions. Lengthy frame, athleticism and experience in coverage. Has the long arms scouts like from linebackers.

Excellent special teams player whose ball skills were demonstrated when he leapt high to snatch an onside kick early against LSU in the SEC Championship game.

He is not a passrusher. Rang thinks his best position would be weakside 4-3 OLB. BIG difference
