With us having basically no depth at Safety would you select Mark Barron if he slips to #30?

Nope. I don't think he's a 1st rounder in any other draft, this year the talent is just piss poor at safety. Would go for a guy like Markelle Martin or Janzen Jackson in later rounds however. Also Barron is SS, while they clearly need depth at both safety spots, I would argue that FS is a bigger need, especially with Goldson's long-term future with the 49ers up in the air.

yep agree, more of a need at FS, where I would consider Harrison Smith, who played FS at some points at Notre Dame. But I would rather not add a 1st round Safety when we need a playmaker or Guard.

Barron can be connected to basically every team in the draft, especially the teams in the 10-20 pick range. It appears that NFL personnel folks think he could play either safety position. He has range, 4.51 speed, decent ball skills and can also tackle. If the Niners are going strictly BPA, then I think they would take him at #30.

It would just depend on who is left on the board. He is a hell of a SS and we have no depth there at all.

I just don't see him being there at #30 as he's the only guy with a 1st round grade. Someone will over-value him

No.
We have other priorities like BIG RZone receiver and RG.
We also need a better DLine rotation to keep our guys fresh through the playoffs. I think this is a bigger need than most address.
Last year we were relatively injury free and our DLine made te D really click.
