Explosive pass-rusher with a still higher ceiling, very quick first step, good size, adding this guy as a replacement for Haralson could be huge. As I look at the draft, it seems the 49ers can go in any number of directions but I'd love to see a fast, pass-rushing 3-4 OLB picked up at some point in the draft.

Haralson, the Y belongs in his first name.

Right now, not expected to fall out of the top 20. Productive 6-3 250 pound DE/OLB hybrids from major programs with 4.5 speed and tons of upside typically don't get out of the first half of the 1st round.

If Brooks leaves OLB is definitely one of the top needs. Haralson is ok but i wouldn't want him starting for the entire season again. Heck, even if we re-signed Brooks Haralson could be upgraded but not early in the draft.
Don't know much about Perry but him and Curry might be options if Brooks leaves but OTC might be right in that he will be gone.

Perry kind of underachieved until this season...i think niners might have better options
if they go with a 1 year wonder at olb, how about whitney mercilus from illinois--think he lead the nation in sacks and had 9 forced fumbles

I'm pretty sure Aldon Smith will start in Haralson's place. If Brooks leaves, we will definitely need someone. I keep reading that Perry will be gone before our pick, but there seems to a lot of good 3-4 guys who are rated as 1st to 2nd round picks (including the 2 guys from the senior bowl, Ingram and Upshaw)

Why lock? No swearing, no attacks, no nipples, no Alex Smith comments. This one needs to stay open!

It's kind of funny how much of our draft hinges on brooks leaving or not. If we re-sign him we can afford to sign or draft a back up late but if he doesn't then getting a new LB skyrockets to a 1st or 2nd rounder or big money FA :/
I think we have a shot at getting a good Upshaw or Perry in the 1st but its very unlikely. More likely that Mercilus is still on the board or that Curry rises enough to warrant a 1st.

Yeah, that's what I meant Aldon starting on one side and then Haralson on the other if Brooks leaves and we probably don't want that. We would definitely need someone early in the draft early if Brooks leaves. I wouldn't be comfortable with Aldon and Brooks starting. I'm ok with Haralson at 3rd OLB but he could possibly be upgraded later on. He's doing better stopping the run... but if we start him across from Aldon our pass rush will decrease.

If we never took another USC player I'd be fine with that.
