Agree, first round draft picks need to be active on game days and contributing from day one. WR, CB and safety could, DT could not. I personally think the DL (assuming they re sing Ricke Jean Francois0 is great for next year. Keep developing Francois, Dobbs and Williams at NT.

Don't want either. With Peter Konz still on the board, I would've selected him. Or just trade down and get an extra 2nd.

my thoughts exactly in this scenario, obviously he's not included trades in the mock so trading down wasn't going to be an option there.
5 WR's in the first round, 3 CB's

I wouldn't complain about that pick. Crick has that non stop motor we love about Justin Smith. We can rotate Crick in on third downs to rush the passer (ala Aldon) and we'd have our future replacement for J.Smith.

Since Suh left, Crick hasn't really shown he can do that. Sure, he has a non-stop motor, but he's had a difficult time getting any penetration prior to his injury. Even last season, he wasn't that huge of a concern for offenses. At this point, I'd rather have Dobbs, who has shown flashes.

I'll give you this season, but I think I heard he was playing through a knee injury before the triceps tear. But I don't think saying he wasn't a huge concern for offenses last season is quite accurate. 9.5 sacks without Suh definitely had his stock high.
Btw I like Dobbs as well. But Crick has way more upside, especially if Tomsula gets a chance to coach him.

So this! Konz would be the pick, IMO given that scenario. He's just too good and versatile for our OL. Plays center and guard. Takes over at RG and then moves to C a la Heitmann when Goodwin's contract ends. No?

Please no guard or center with the first or second round picks. I know you all have protective instincts, but unless truly BPA, the pick should be WR, CB or Safety. Goddwin is under contract, and if Baalke re signs Snyder we are ok at RG. I even would be fine with Kilgore starting and drafting a G in later round.
Team needs playmakers on defense in the secondary and a WR who can be a red zone threat.

If I really had to choose, I'd trade out of the 1st to get two picks in the 2nd (unless Michael Floyd, Alshon Jeffery, Kendall Wright, or Alfonzo Dennard miraculously falls to our pick). This way, we can select a receiver like Dwight Jones and a corner like Casey Hayward in the 2nd round.

fair enough, so in that scenario, you can't find anyone willing to trade with you, who are you taking?
If you make such good argument against taking an OL I assume you feel the same way about DL, correct?

Crick again I'm tired of drafting us linemen in the first rounds but I am even more tired of seeing pressure on our QB over and over again. Snyder is a good run-blocker but he is not a good pass protector. If we can get good value with our 1st, we should pull the trigger.

Yeah if Mohammed Sanu is gone and it's a choice between Crick & Konz, I'm taking Konz. THere should also be a heap of DB's worth picking there as well.
