Now that the team has competent coaches, the glaring holes in talent seem to have evaporated. For the sake of this thread, let's assume the team continues to improve and get coached up this season. Then entering this draft we would have the luxury of drafting what we WANT.
Don't ever believe that crap about drafting best player available - that is GM/Coach baloney. Teams draft that best player available THAT FILLS A NEED. Teams only draft best player available when they seem to have holes everywhere -- and that is typically a symptom of back coaching (a la Sing/Nolan and their lousy staffs).
So with that draft luxury for the first time in years, where could the team simply seek developmental upgrades? I say they would likely look at order of priority:
(If they are picking in the bottom 1/4 of the rounds)
1. CB -- most likely in round 2 and 3
2. QB ?? -- with their current roster I don't think this will be a huge priority unless they believe they see the next Dalton and Ponder available to them. It really depends if they see AS passing game improve dramatically at the end of the season. I don't think they are sold on CK. I think they are looking forward to CK and Tolzein competing next off-season to see what they really have there.
3. OL -- most likely at guard, then tackle, then center (1st rounder?)
4. DL -- best player for any position available (maybe 1st rounder)
5. OLB
(of course, this doesn't factor in FA issues)
What do you think their draft talent hunt will be looking for as a priority??

There's a draft room, but I think you left our biggest need off, a playmaker at WR. Braylons, not a lock, neither is Ginn and Ginn's not good at being a WR. Morgans hurt. So if Michael Floyd falls we draft him late.

I also think the bottom of the 1st round also yields more solid starters who are less of a risk as well, this draft will be sending lots of skill guys into that area as well, I'm excited to see what we supplement, whatever position it is.

You are absolutely right. WR is probably #1 priority.

Im not sure we will have draft luxery. Alot of players will be free agents. We will have a much better idea after free agency.

And I thought I was looking ahead by looking at the Giants game........
For the first time in years I'm not looking forward to the draft because I know how the season is going to end. Going to enjoy the ride and worry about this in Feb.

I don't think there's ever drafting for "luxury." There are just smart picks, and stupid picks. Buffalo picking Spiller, NE picking Maroney, Indy picking Donald Brown, Anthony Gonzalez, Jerry Hughes were "luxury" picks, and ultimately, stupid picks. You pick best player on the board for your 1st day picks.

If an unexpected stud is available, I would not object to an OLB as depth behind Brooks and A Smith and replacing Haralson. WR is still the #1 priority, with a preference, as always, of a big, playmaker type. #2 Being a DB whether a safety or a CB, going with the better talent available.

depending where we pick, and if Adam Snyder isn't in our future plans, I'd take a hard look at OG De Castro from Stanford
