Now, don't get me wrong. I don't say this because I have blind faith in harbs and believe he should get whatever he wants, I say it because the MAIN reason we hired him was because of his expertise with QBs. So it's not to say he is some QB God, but just that if thats the main reason we hired Jim, then we should let him do whatever it takes to get HIS GUY.

If Kap was his GUY, then so be it. Now all we have to do is hope and wait to see whether Kap turns into our future star QB with the tutelage of Harbaugh..

Big fan tonight. You're saving my fingers

Thank you. I swear, fans who overreact and don't even THINK before they complain piss me off. People need to look at things from different perspective..

Agreed. I think most of them are very young and/or spoiled by our Super Bowl success. This is a different league, it takes time. Not to mention the coaches and front office do this as a career and have everything to lose, UNLIKE all the armchair GM's on this MB

I know right. And in my opinion, age isn't even that big of a deal.

I'm 19 and I've gotten used to looking at 49er football optimistically and from different perspectives because all I've witnessed is losing. Age isn't as important as it is to actually think and use common sense. lol.

If you're 19 and making sense like that, you're WAY ahead of the game my friend!

Didn't you know, in order to be a WZ poster, you have to have previous experience as a scout or GM? You didn't like on your application to the WZ did you?

I play fantasy football, does that count? Lol

Haha thanks. But honestly, I can understand that we as fans NEED to criticize our teams' decisions and never have blind faith. But at the same time, we NEED to formulate sensible criticism, not some emotional overreaction s**t.

weak

smith over robert quinn will haunt this team for a LONG LONG TIME...the pick makes no sense at all...if u guys wanna look thru you rose colored glasses go ahead!!

Ok here it is...the most sensible post you will probably read on this subject: NOT QUINN??? Was my initial reaction too...and was until sometime this morning. But the more I thought about, it's really the same. Any time you have a college DE that you want to transition into a LB, there are questions. Can he drop back into coverage, can he make the transition? With Quinn there were questions because of him not playing last year, and medical concerns. With Smith, there is an experience factor due to only playing 2 seasons (and one of them he was playing hurt for a lot of it, apparently).

So to be perfectly honest and non-biased, if someone calls Smith a reach at #7 then Quinn would have been too. There are no guarantees about either of them, the Niners took who they thought was the best choice.

Thank you! I don't honestly know why everybody is on Quinn's jock. The man didn't even play football last year and his own college coach didn't think he'd be a good fit for a 3-4 and that he was best suited to have his arm planted to the ground. I think I'll take the word of the man whom has coached him the last few years.

We'll make an exception for you, GM of a fantasy football team will work.

i dont know how anyone could call our draft any more than a c+ considering the fact that we have yet to draft an impact player for this year. We have yet to draft a player who can actually make an impact on this year. Many of you will probably say that smith will be an impact player but the truth is that he will probably take a year or two to devlelop into an olb. At best we can hope for is he will be a third down specialist and even that might be dreaming. A couple of years from now i could be eating crow but as far as this year goes, we did not IMO draft one single person who will make a big impact on our team...HERES TO FREE AGENCY whenever that is....

this has been posted multiple times already but here we go again.

The niners tried to trade back from 7

Trent Baalke said #49ers looked into trading up (or back) from No. 7, but ran into roadblocks that prevented deals.

The #49ers spoke with the Falcons, who ultimately chose to deal with Brown to ensure they got WR Julio Jones.

SOURCE

On Culliver, 2 of our very own draft gurus on this board have Culliver ranked pretty much here we got him. I think SI had him ranked as 3rd or 4th rounder as well but none of that really matters cuz its where the Niners had him rated. Plus we traded back for Culliver and picked up another 6th round pick.

Niners are gonna be the busiest team 2morrow with all the picks we have and there are still a lot of good players out there

Thank you very much for this post.

I would like to add that each of the three players drafted seem to be players that are coachable (is that a word?). It seems that Trent Baalke and Jim Harbaugh understand the functions and responsibilities of the coaches.

People are on Quinn's jock because he is a beast. He very well could be an impact player very quickly. I have heard quite a few draft experts say if he had played last year, he could well have been a top 3 pick. And his college coach did NOT say he didn't think Quinn would be a good fit for a 3-4, he said he thought he was "best suited" as a 4-3 DE. That is not the same thing. That would be like saying Willis COULDN'T play in a 4-3. The questions on Quinn playing a 3-4 OLB are very similar to Demarcus Ware when he came out - and I think he turned out alright.

Aldon Smith is not a reach! I honestly thought Von Miller was a smokescreen for Buffalo and Denver to trade down for teams who are hyped on Von. I think Smith is better than Von. He is too soft! I really thought Smith would be gone. To me it is a no brainer, Smith reminds me so much of Demarcus Ware out of Troy! Give him 2 years to grow and beef up to his frame and we may have a our version of Ware! at worse maybe a John Abraham.

Kaepernick is really awesome to watch on the pistol offense. I don't mind him being on our team, but 2nd rd. is too high for me! We could've got Bowers and Mallet on 3rd. The CB we got is projected 5th or 6th Rd. I'm not sure if it was him, but I remember him holding alot.

Agree. I don't think Trent B. understands the concept of trading back- only trading up (see 2nd Rd). In 2010, TB reached and traded away picks to move up and draft a 'project' in Anthony Davis. If SF was competing against the Raiders to pick CK, then that is a bad indication for 49er fans.

My gut tells me that SF would have been better not drafting AD and picks in 2010 and taking Tyron Smith this year - and giving up nothing.

Your gut? Or your 20/20 hindsight? Come on man.

Gut. Definitely not hindsight. I didn't like the idea of using the 11th pick on the least proven and youngest OT in the 1st round. That was an immediate need. I did not feel it wise to draft on potential. I also don't think that it was wise to trade a 4th rounder when the teams in front of you had no interest in taking an OT.

I disagree, and thats fine... I tell you why, Sure chris not outstanding but he add depth to either cb or saftey could play either and thats a plus...

But ALDON!!! How can you not like that pick, maybe it's because i can see Lb's like I'm a LB wisperer, I hate manny lawson i thought he be a 4-3 olb, i was right.. I LOVED THE WILLIS PICK!!! And everyone that year said we reached, every scout said we really over reached for a small ILB for a 3-4! Pssh, we reached for a future hall of famer! I think we did just that! His body screams DWARE/Haley!!! This is the kid who will finally free justin smith!!! Long Long arms, good footwork and hand placement at point of attack, Bulk and at 21 if he keeps growing, we found the younger version of Adulius Thomas and people are pissed cause he is a 3-4 passrusher with 10+ sacks a season once he learns the nfl, took VD 5 years lets hope he picks it up like haley did!!!

Sorry bro, no disrespect, but WTH makes any zoner qualified to rank college prospects?? Especially over a Mike Mayock? Are they/were they ever scouts? On an NFL or College team?
