1. He's the best corner available.
2. It's a position of need.
3. He comes from a big time program and has done well in big games.

Fixed.
In seriousness some think he is a better fit as a safety than a corner, do you think he can play corner at this level O ? We have seen a couple of these DB tweeners from Texas in recent years (Huff, Griffin)....I do like the great bloodlines that he comes from, it's a almost a always a plus at least mentally.
Should this pick be a QB ?

"He lacks the hip fluidity to play on an island at the next level, but he has experience lining up over the slot and maintains proper position to take away the easy crossing routes."

Sounds like we're getting a nickel back. I'm no expert and perhaps neither are the folks at NFL.com but I prefer Brandon Harris. Either way you're on the right track with a CB.

I have a sour taste in my mouth with Brandon Harris after Michael Floyd raped him in the bowl game.

Lol - I do watch a lot of UT games
I do think he can play CB. I think he is a physical corner who is deceptively fast. He's not the fastest guy on the field, but he has good enough speed to keep up with most WRs.
I like the pick more not necessarily because of Williams, but because of how he would fit in Fangio's scheme. We do need bigger, physical corners to play press effectively.

The track record of Texas DBs speaks for itself, it's DBU. Problem is it's highly unlikely he's there, I think there will be a run on CBs and we'll be left to choose about the 6-8th best prospect.

Sideline scouting says: "Explosive lower body, had a 10’7" broad jump and 37.5" vertical at the combine... Is a very athletic player, flows well to the ball in run defense and zone coverage... Has quick and fluid hips, flips hips and run with receivers well, which is a necessity with the amount of plays he lines up five to ten yards off receivers... Does a good job reading receivers' eyes, snaps head around quickly and finds the ball with relative ease"
Scouting is subjective, hence even the disagreements in this thread But from what I've seen he loves to hit, he supports the run, he has the speed to play corner and can cover effectively in man to man and in zone coverage.

If Williams is available I would have no problem drafting him. CB is a glaring need for us, and I like what I have seen and most recently read about him. Besides, you can't go wrong picking a player from Texas
