the crazy length of his arms could also be one reason why his reps were low on the bench.

When DeMarcus Ware needs pass rushing tips he goes to Aldon Smith.

Lol
^ I like how his eyes are fixed on the ball in that pic instead of the QB. rather have a fumble than a sack.

also like how he had 11.5 sacks, breaking justin smith's record, while he missed three games and played through injury the last three games

His Combine #'s aren't even close to Ware's though.

Ware
40--------4.56 best that year for DL
3-cone---6.85 best that year by alot
Shuttle---4.07 best that year
Vertical--38.5 2nd best
Broad----122 Tied for 2nd
Bench----27 Tied for 2nd

Smith
40-------4.74 Tied for 9th
3-cone--7.19 12th
Shuttle--4.50 16th
Vertical--34 Tied for 5th
Broad----118 5th
Bench----20 Tied for 16th

Ware 251 lbs 34" arms 6'4"

Smith 263 lbs 35 3/8" arms 6'4 1/4"

Ya Gholston doesn't compare either.

4.65
7.12
4.4
35.5
125 better
37 better

Now I know what your getting at, but it a Ware vs Smith thread. Combine #'s are not the be all and all. Its the change of directions #'s really stick out when coverting a DE to OLB. imo

Aldon isn't the same type of athlete. I still question whether Aldon will be a great edge rusher or not...certainly will never be on the level of Ware, he doesn't have the explosion and quickness needed. I do, however, think Aldon is more versatile, and he will be effective via moving all over the line, his inside rush is phenomenal.

37 Reps and gholston couldn't get it done, that's crazy strong. Wow.
f**k demarcus ware

Ware at the time was 23 close to 24 years old I believe at that time and Aldon is only 21 year old right now.

So while it might not be the case but you could probably make an argument that Aldon has even more room to grow on the physical side of things than Ware did coming out of college.

And that doesn't mean either that Smith will catch and surpass Ware in a couple of years in terms of physicality but I do think he has a lot of growing to do.

Holy s**t, Ware's supposed to have pretty long arms. Smith's got some monkey arms
i dont know how anyone can compare these two, one is a rookie that hasnt played a single game and the other is a sack machine pro bowl player.

its clear that aldon smith is better then ware.
