After looking into our picks, I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be. But still...we're drafting as if we're already an elite team who can wait 2-3 years for these projects to develop. We were THIS CLOSE (on many occassions) last year to winning our division, but the rest of the division has gotten stronger while we'll have to wait and see. Arizona has strengthened their secondary in a big way (although I'm not too concerned 'cause they have no one to throw the ball), Seattle improved their offensive line with two nice picks, and the Rams added an intriguing pass-rushing threat who'll likely start from day one as well as two immediate receiving threats for Bradford. Still, we know NOTHING compared to the people who're making the final decisions. We weren't there during the private workouts and interviews, etc. As such, I support our team's draft picks thus far.
Welcome to the team, Aldon, CK1, Culliver!
Go 9ers!

I admit I did a scooby doo when the pick came, thought they could have traded back, later learned no one wanted to. They obviouly feel smith is better than Quinn, Quinn has issues (out of football for a year) medical (yeah I know the doctors say he is cleared, but once you have a tumor the chance is good that it could come back or affect his play).
The more I read, the more I liked his intangibles like his wing span, according to Baalke his wing span is 8" greater than his height. Meaning OL have a harder time grabbing his jersey to legally hold him (in fact that it is one of the minor complaints, he sometimes doesn't extend), plus sacking a QB is only part of the deal, the long arms alows for him bat or tip the ball, in fact his interception I believe came went he didn't rush and just tipped the ball near the line of scrimmage. Not to mention he will easily be able to pick up another 10-15 lbs.
People thought the Jags reached for Tyson Alualu, turns outs he was worth the pick and the jags accessed it correctly and everyone else (supposed experts were wrong).
I think it's easy for them to be pessimistic. If we do great than everyone's happy but if we do bad than at least they can hang their hat on saying, "i told you so." I said that if we draft a WZ favorite with our pick, than Harbs will get the praise. if we don't like the pick... well we can see who gets bashed for those. Like you said, it's funny that people think Fangio and Leavit wouldn't approve the Aldon Smith pick. Like Baalke is in the war room like an evil Czar. And if we made a trade for Kaepernick than we probably would have traded for any of the QB's Harbs wanted. Do they think that Baalke went over Harbs head and traded for whoever he wanted?????? Just seems like nonsense.

The best part is getting a QB.

What would you do different? What was wrong?
We filled a need at pass rusher finally and moved up to grab arguably the most accurate QB of the draft. I can't be too disappointed. Call me a homer.
