1-Carolina Panthers - Cam Newton, QB
The Panthers have to ways to go here. a) The decide to give Jimmy Clausen another year and give him some playmakers to work with. The would have to select AJ Green in this case. b) They see that Clausen was plain awful and take a need quarterback. They can go Newton or Gabbert then. Newton is the pick between those two based on upside and based on the fact, that Gabbert is a real #1 overall prospect imo. I think the fact that Clausen really looked lost last year leads them to taking way b).
2-Denver Broncos - Marcel Dareus, DT
If the Broncos hadn't resigned Champ Bailey, this pick would be Patrick Peterson. But after extending Champ, there are many other holes to fill. The public qb search by Elway is a smokescreen, to get somebody as a trade partner, but ultimatly, they will pick somebody for their depleted dline. Dareus is the safer pick than Fairley is, so he will a Bronco.
3-Buffalo Bills - Von Miller, OLB
I think, the bills are in the comfortable position, to be picking at the top of the 2nd round to get a qb, so they can go to their most glaring need. They have absolutely no pass rush and Von Miller is the top pass rusher for a 3-4 defense this year.
4-Cincinatti Bengals - Blaine Gabbert, QB
This is an interesting pick. The Bengals could go WR here, but the fact that Carson Palmer does not want to play another minute for Cincinatti leaves them with no qb at all. There will be some good WR in the 2nd round, but their may be no qb, so they take the qb here.
5-Arizona Cardinals - Robert Quinn, OLB
This is a bad scenario for the Cards. They wanted Gabbert or Miller, but both guys are gone. This pick is between AJ Green, Peterson and Robert Quinn. Green and Peterson would improve two positions that are already decent to good on the cardinals roster. Quinn will bring them instant pass rush with no real pass rushers existant on the Cardinals roster (and no, i don't count J.Porter as a pass rusher anymore)
6-Cleveland Browns - AJ Green, WR
The browns have a top cornerback in Joe Haden and Eric Wright and Sheldon Brown behind him. At WR there are some #2 receivers, but no real leader. AJ Green is a special player and will give them a true #1 receiver.
7-San Francisco 49ers - Patrick Peterson, CB
No explanation needed. I believe the niners big board is Peterson,Miller,Dareus,Gabbert,Quinn,Amukamara. Their #1 player falls to them so run to the podium
8-Tennessee Titans - Nick Fairley, DT
The downfall of the titans began with the loss of Albert Haynesworth. They are searching for a dominant dt since. Here he comes. With the top qbs gone, they could think about Julio Jones here, too, but Fairley is just to good and will dominate if he cares.
9-Dallas Cowboys - Prince Amukamara, CB
The Cowboys will decide between Amukamara and an OT like Tyron Smith. The fact that Prince is rated higher and that Jerry Jones never selected an OT in the 1st round makes me believe that they will pick Amukamara.
10-Washington Redskins - Julio Jones, WR
The skins are in the qb hunt, too, but are in a bad place here. Reaching for the 3rd qb does not really make sense and there is nobody besides Santana Moss at wideout. Julio Jones blew up the combine and will be a top 10 pick.
11-Houston Texans - JJ Watt, DE
The texans move to a 3-4 with their new dc. This means they need 3-4 players. Their top need would be cornerback, but with Prince gone, they will move their sight to dominant 3-4 defenders. JJ Watt is a prototype 3-4 end simular to Justin Smith. Him paired with Mario Williams on the other side will be a scary good tandem. They only need a nt now.
12-Minnesota Vikings - Da'quan Bowers, DE
Another qb needy team that is in a bad position. What is next on their list ? This would be OT, but they are really missing a 2nd defensive end, too. Da'quan Bowsers was once thought to be a potential #1 pick but slipped due to injury concerns. His knee looks ok, so he won't slip any further.
13-Detroit Lions - Tyron Smith, OT
Year after year the lions have ignored, that they need an offensive tackle. Year after year, Matthew Stafford got injured. Maybe they are wiser now. They pick Tyron Smith, move Backus or Cherilus inside and have eliminated two problems with one pick.
14-St.Louis Rams - Aldon Smith, DE
The Rams would have loved to get Julio Jones, but his combine devastated their hopes. They could need some good pass rusher what Smith definitly is. What makes him a fit for Spags defense is the fact that he can play on multiple positions in multiple situations.
15-Miami Dolphins - Ryan Mallet, QB
The Dolphins almost have to reach for a qb if they wanna have one early this year. They have no 2nd rounder, so they could only wait for somebody to drop to round 3, what isn't likely to happen. With that said, i think the Dolphins really like Mallet. They have had some decent success with a rather immobile pocket passer in the last century ;) So why not try to get such a guy again.
16-Jacksonville Jaguars - Ryan Kerrigan, DE
Kerrigan is painted all over this pick. The Jags need a defensive end and Kerrigan works his butt off, to be a factor on the field and knows how to find the qb.
17-New England Patriots - Cameron Jordan, DE
The rich get richer. The Patriots are missing some key parts in their defense (linebacker) but Cam Jordan beeing available here will make him the pick in a second. The pats have so many picks and will get a good linebacker later. The other possibility would be Mark Ingram, but their will be some good running backs available in round 2.
18-San Diego Chargers - Muhammad Wilkerson, DE
Another 3-4 defense that needs help up front. Wilkerson is moving up the boards and would fit in nicely opposite to Louis Castillo.
19-New York Giants - Antonio Castonzo, OT
The Giants need a new running back and a tight end, but both can be had a little bit later. Their third big need is an offensive tackle and with Castonzo being available, the Giants will go this way first.
20-Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Adrian Clayborn, DE
Clayborn is dropping a bit because of his disease, but he was able to dominate some times and has top 10 potential. The Buccs really need an DE and so this is the bottom for Clayborn
21-Kansas City Chiefs - Phil Taylor, NT
The Chiefs did pretty good on defense after their move to the 3-4 last year, but they don't have a big guy up front. The other top need would be a burner at WR, but i think Phil Taylor being available here makes them pull the trigger
22-Indianapolis Colts - Nate Solder, OT
The Colts are admitting, that ignoring Rodger Saffold last year was a big mistake. They won't make that mistake twice, even with a perfect dt like Liuget available for them. Solder fits the atheltic mold the colts like.
23-Philadelphia Eagles - Jimmy Smith, CB
Smith is a top 15 player based purely on talent. The Eagles could take Pouncey here, because they are quite thin at guard, but Smith fills the bigger need.
24-New Orleans Saints - Gabe Carimi, OT
After signing Shaun Rodgers, the dt position looks better so they can use this pick to improve the tackle position. Gabe Carimi is a very safe pick und should improve an allready good line.
25-Seattle Seahawks - Mike Pouncey, OG
The Hawks need a quaterback, but they have a real problem in the middle of their offensive line, too. I don't see thim picking a qb early, because they think that Hasselbeck has 2 more years left. Pouncey will get picked in the 1st round, in the same area his brother was, but his brother is the better overall player.
26-Baltimore Ravens - Justin Houston, OLB
Pouncey is gone, Jimmy Smith is gone, so i see the Ravens improving their pass rush with Justin Houston. The Ravens heart is their linebacking corps and this will even improve with this selection
27-Atlanta Falcons - Torrey Smith, WR
Roddy White is great, but who else ? They Falcons need a speed guy to open the field for White, Gonzales and Turner. Torrey Smith is exactly that kind of a player
28-New England Patriots - Mark Ingram, RB
The rich getting richer part 2 : Mark Ingram will be picked in an instant by the Patriots, if he still is available here.
29-Chicago Bears - Corey Liuget, DT
The Bears are thin at offensive tackle, wide receiver and defensive tackle. Corey Liuget fits their scheme perfectly and provides more value than Derek Sherrod or a WR here.
30-New York Jets - Cameron Heyward, DE
This pick could be Brooks Reed, because the Jets need an olb after the Gholston fiasco, but with Shaun Ellis a free agent, the need at de is even bigger. Cameron Heyward looks like a perfect 3-4 end and fits their defense quite good.
31-Pittsburgh Steelers - Derek Sherrod, OT
Every year we talk about the Steelers need for oline help. Last year they repaired the interior line with Pouncey. This year, they fix the outside. They could go cb here, but Sherrod is the last 1st tier tackle available.
32-Green Bay Packers - Brooks Reed, OLB
The long-haired pass rush terror duo is born. Reed on the other side of Matthews could make the nfc norths quarterbacks life a hell. Again this could be a cornerback, but Reed has great potential, especially with the opponents double teaming Matthews.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
33-New England Patriots - Akeem Ayers, OLB
34-Buffalo Bills - Christian Ponder, QB
35-Cincinatti Bengals - Jonathan Baldwin, WR
36-Denver Broncos - Danny Watkins, OG
37-Cleveland Browns - Michael Leshoure, RB
38-Arizona Cardinals - Jake Locker, QB
39-Tennessee Titans - Colin Kaepernick, QB
40-Dallas Cowboys - Jabal Sheard, OLB
41-Washington Redskins - Andy Dalton, QB
42-Houston Texans - Brandon Harris, CB
43-Minnesota Vikings - Leonard Hankerson, WR
44-Detroit Lions - Aaron Williams, CB
45-San Francisco 49ers - Steven Paea, NT
Paea was a 1st rounder before he got injured at the senior bowl. He is slipping a bit, but his playing style is perfect for the niners nose tackle position. The niners don't need huge guys up front, but players who can move and who are strong enough to hold the point of attack.
46-Denver Broncos - Rahim Moore, S
47-St.Louis Rams - Randall Cobb, WR
48-Oakland Raiders - Stefen Wisniewski, C
49-Jacksonville Jaguars - Curtis Brown, CB
50-San Diego Chargers - Martez Wilson, OLB
51-Tampa Bay Buccs - Bruce Carter, OLB
52-New York Giants - Ryan Williams, RB
53-Indianapolis Colts - Marvin Austin, DT
54-Philadelphia Eagles - Ben Ijalana, OG
55-Kansas City Chiefs - Titus Young, WR
56-New Orleans Saints - Christian Ballard, DE
57-Seattle Seahawks - Greg Little, WR
58-Baltimore Ravens - Ras-I Dowling, CB
59-Atlanta Falcons - Kyle Rudolph, TE
60-New England Patriots - Marcus Cannon, OG
61-Chicago Bears - Orlando Franklin, OT
62-San Diego Chargers - Quinton Carter, S
63-Pittsburgh Steelers - Davon House, CB
64-Green Bay Packers - Rodney Hudson, OG
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
65-Carolina Panthers - Drake Nevis, DT
66-Cincinatti Bengals - James Carpenter, OT
67-Denver Broncos - Brandon Burton, CB
68-Buffalo Bills - Kenrick Ellis, NT
69-Arizona Cardinals - Clint Boling, OG
70-Cleveland Browns - Sam Acho, DE
71-Dallas Cowboys - Jason Pinkston, OT
72-New Orleans Saints - Allen Bailey, DT
73-Houston Texans - Dontay Moch, OLB
74-New England Patriots - Jerrel Jernigan, WR
75-Detroit Lions - Mason Foster, OLB
76-San Francisco 49ers - Ricky Stanzi, QB
I don't think the niners will try to trade up in the top of the 2nd, because it is simply to expensive and the niners have to many needs. Sitting in the 3rd should give us an expriences, pro style quarterback and a real leader. He can sit a year behind who ever we sign in free agency and take over next year.
77-Tennessee Titans - Quan Sturdivant, MLB
78-St.-Louis Rams - Shane Vereen, RB
79-Miami Dolphins - Daniel Thomas, RB
80-Jacksonville Jaguars - KJ Wright, OLB
81-Oakland Raiders - Johnny Patrick, CB
82-San Diego Chargers - Kelvin Sheppard, MLB
83-New York Giants - Lance Kendricks, TE
84-Tampa Bay Buccs - Greg Jones, MLB
85-Philadelphia Eagles - Robert Sands, S
86-Kansas City Chiefs - Mark Herzlich, OLB
87-Indianapolis Colts - Rashad Carmichael, CB
88-New Orleans Saints - DeAndre McDaniel, S
89-San Diego Chargers - Terrance Tolliver, WR
90-Baltimore Ravens - John Moffit, OG
91-Atlanta Falcons - Jordan Todman, RB
92-New England Patriots - Tyler Sash, S
93-Chicago Bears - Edmund Gates, WR
94-New York Jets - Jerrel Powe, NT
95-Pittsburgh Steelers - Jurell Casey, DE
96-Green Bay Packers - Chris Culliver, CB
97-Carolina Panthers - Luke Stocker, TE
