MadDog's Big 254 Board- Friday, April 22 Edition

With less than a week to go before the draft begins, I am posting my second to last board. On Tuesday, I will post my final board, to sync up with OnTheClock. The final touches are being applied, and the argument inside my mind whether Jeremy Beal, Mark Herzlich, and many superb college players with possible struggles transitioning to the NFL is raging.

As for the first round, there should not be many major alterations, only slight movements.

This is not a mock draft, but a projection of the area I believe a player will be selected. The first round has the air of a mock, but as the draft continues, with the extraordinary amount of trades, projecting a specific player to a specific team at a specific spot becomes way too murky. If you are a literalist, you will see in this board that the Niners select almost all offense, as I have put in bold the Niners slots. None were intentional outside the first three rounds.

I do intend to be available for conversation on the board for all 254 picks on all three days, so if you have questions about a player, or want to know who I think the best player available for the team, I'd be happy to share my thoughts.

Christmas is only 6 days away!
Cheers.

Herzlich and Chris Nield are good players. I would definitely take them in the 6th or 7th round.
Looks like you have a lot of teams trading up for a QB. I'm also surprised to see Locker at 12

thanks dude, been waiting for this to come out
Looks like you're coming around on "Mallett in the first" I see.

You've got him slotted in the same spot as myself. Interesting movement in the top half of your board though with Aldon Smith and Locker going a fair amount higher, and Fairley a significant amount lower than I would expect.

The Showdown will begin in less than 6 days from now. Good luck, MD. May the best man win.
solid board MD. Wouldnt be mad if that was how it fell with us if we stand pat. which is unlikely but u never know.

Im very high on Cobb, and Locke.
it will be high drama to see if we go purely BPA or BPA by need
So MD, if Peterson and Gabbert are both gone, you would take prince over quinn?
is that the Redskins you are thinking that Locker... just curious on why he is so high up there?

Minny, 12th pick is Vikes,
I can't believe how many high powered DEs are in this draft. Baldinger's mock 11-21 had 9 DEs going. Obviously, that wont happen, but that just shows you how much talent is out there.
Why Prince over Cam Jordan and Robert Quinn? And what do you think about Stanzi? Thanks. Great job as always!!!

I'd take Prince over Quinn. Less of a risky pick, and fulfills a bigger need, in that Clements is going to be heading east in a few months when the Niners release him.

Quinn has a bigger upside, but has a much higher bust potential.

There is going to be a rush for QB's. It is an extraordinary year, and everyone will scramble for their guy.

It looks like Locker is clearly the number three drafted QB in this draft, according to the buzz. Minnesota is really desperate, and I think they will make that move for Locker, if he slips past SF, Tennessee and Washington.
