Although I like the trade back for QB scenario, except for Ponder. Wouldn't mind having a chargers "problem", Brees and Rivers on my roster.
If we land a QB we believe is a franchise QB this year we may not even give Luck a look should there be no 2012 draft. He would command a pricey deal considering he may be the top prospect in his class, something the FO might not be willing to spend on if you believe you have your franchise guy in the fold.
That could very well be true..just kind of a hypothetical thought. Would be fun to watch, back to the good days

Anyway, I want to see who is there at #7 before we even think of trading down. Once, let alone half a dozen times.
This.

Actually Von Miller is the only guy i want if he falls to #7. and wouldn't want to trade back. I think the biggest area of need for the team is a pass rusher. I actually like the corners on the team. Sometimes it just seems like the opposing QB has all day to find a WR. I can't wait to see how this draft turns out.

I would cream my pants if we got anyone of those. Go quality over quantity.

If Gabbert is still on the board at 7 I think there will be some very strong trade interest. I can see the Redskins, Vikings, and maybe Miami being players in that one.
Prince might drum up some trade interest from Houston or Detroit but it depends on how highly rated they have him and if they are content to stay put and pick from the talent that will still likely be on the board for them.
If we're not in love with the player that's at #7 than I feel by all means we should explore a trade. I always believed great teams that consistently draft in the 20's are able to take players that fit their system and coach them up. So I have no problem moving back and grabbing a player that might be a little rough around the edges and getting coaching them up into something special.

yes but the judge could rule that they return to playing under the 2010 rules. Which don't include another bargained draft in 2012
no that wouldn't happen

Assuming Miller, Peterson and Dareus are all gone I'd have no problem if we trade back for more picks.

High picks ok. We have a barrel load of low picks. Mostly they will just end up getting cut later this summer.

Im sure Baalke has it all planned out. We are probably targeting some players at 7, if they are gone, i'm sure there is a plan b and we trade down to target other players. Baalke and others are not retards.

If the elite talent is gone, then trade down. I believe those are:
Dareus
Miller
Peterson
Green
The QBs are overinflated in the top ten so I don't expect Baalke/Harbaugh to pull the trigger on one.
Therefore, trade down if Peterson doesn't make it. We get an extra second to work with for this year or next. If we can get an extra second plus Amukamara before Detroit, life would be awesome. We still get a shut down CB while gaining that extra pick.
Lot's to gamble for that extra second instead of just taking him at #7. We shall see.

Depends on what we're getting back. If New England calls and offers 2 1sts hot d*mn I'm in.
An additional 3rd round. No thanks. I'll just take either Quinn or Prince.

folks talking like it's fantasy football with these trade down theories.
