Divisional mock draft - Picks - first round completed

With the 13th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Detroit Lions select:

Tyron Smith USC
With the 14th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select:

DA'QUAN BOWERS, DE, CLEMSON

Bowers falls due to injury concerns, but there is no denying his talent. Not only is he the BPA but also fills a need for the Rams.

Dolphins would like to trade down with needs at QB, RB, and interrior OL. But instead of Pouncey they reach for Ingram despite his knee because Ricky and Ronnie are both FA's.

Dolphins select RB Mark Ingram

Jacksonville Jaquars select Ryan Mallet Arkansas

Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
Mallett certainly has the physical tools to be a force at the next level. He stands at 6'6'' and 238 pounds and--not surprisingly--has a rocket arm. The former Arkansas quarterback has drawn comparisons to Ben Roethlisberger and while those may be fair, he needs to improve in order for those sentiments to come to fruition. Mallett made strides in college, especially in the accuracy department. He completed 43.3 percent of his passes as a freshman, 55.8 as a sophomore, and 64.7 as a junior.
The numbers started to come in his second season, proving that Mallett was not all talent and no production. The Michigan transfer tossed 30 touchdowns against just seven interceptions for the Razorbacks, while throwing for 3627 yards. As a junior he completed 266 passes for 411 yards with 3869 yards, 32 scores, and 12 picks. He led Arkansas to a berth in the Sugar Bowl.

Mallett was probably wise to return to Arkansas for his junior year, but now it is time for him to come out (and he is). He may not be the No. 1 quarterback taken, but he will benefit from Andrew Luck's return to Stanford. A Top 10 overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft is not out of the question.

The rich get richer. The Pats can't believe this guy is still here. Best player availible + biggest need. In the mold of Mike Vrabel and Rosevelt Colvin.

Patriots select

Ryan Kerrigan OLB Perdue

Wow, there are some guys falling here :) The chargers are quite happy, that they can pick up a great 3-4 de hear and select

Cameron Jordan, DE from CAL
Pick: Mike Pouncey, C Florida. Pouncey is a versatile athlete who could fill in for O’Hara or transition to another position along the line, having played well at other spots in college. A natural fit for OG.

the bucs draft Aldon smith

the bucs are surprised that aldon smith is on the board and they rush up the podium to take him

Strengths:
Long arms
Athletic and quick with closing speed
Explodes off edge
Natural pass rusher
Active motor
Capable run defender
Tough; plays through injury
Potential 3-4 rush linebacker

Weaknesses:
Not powerful - lacking strength
Misses tackles on occasion
Lacks experience
Has to mix up his pass rush moves

he has the natural ability and the motor to become one of the best pass rushing DE in this draft class
The Chiefs really lack a big presence in the middle of their defense. This is the reason they select

Phil Taylor, NT from Baylor

Indianapolis Colts select Anthony Castonzo OT Boston College

Skinny: There’s a reason why Boston College currently has well over a dozen offensive lineman in the NFL, coaching. Castonzo has been schooled on his fundamentals and made a seamless transition as a sophomore, stepping into the starting left tackle void when Gosder Cherilus graduated. The 6’0, 300-pounder has been a staple ever since.

SCOUT'S TAKE

At 6’7” Castonzo is blessed with ideal length and a perfect frame for an NFL tackle. He has the ability to dominate against both the run and the pass thanks to his athletic prowess. The Illinois native possesses the agility to get to the second level of the defense to make blocks on linebackers, with the footwork and lateral quickness to handle speed pass rushers coming off the edge. Castonzo is “only” 295 pounds, a bit light in the pants for a man of size—he will need to bulk up and get stronger to be dominant at the next level. The all-ACC performer is among the most experienced and durable players in all of college football regardless of position, with 41 starts already under his belt, including 27 straight at left tackle. If Castonzo continues to improve as a senior the BC product has a chance to be the top tackle in the 2011 NFL Draft and is a potential top-10 selection.

Bio: In 2007, Castonzo became the first true freshman to start on the offensive line for Boston College in 10 years. As a sophomore, he made the move from the right side of the offensive line to left tackle and has been a fixture since. After three seasons as an Eagle, he will enter his senior year with 41 starts under his belt, the last 27 at left tackle.

The Baltimore Ravens select: Derek Sherrod OT Mississippi State

Sherrod is one of the more experienced tackles in the SEC, if not in the entire nation. He played in 10 games as a freshman in 2007, started 10 games as a sophomore, and started 12 game as a junior. He paved the way for a Mississippi State rushing attack that averaged 227.58 yards per game in 2009, ninth best in the nation. For his efforts, Sherrod was named to the All-SEC Second Team by the conference's coaches. More of the same continued as a senior in 2010; the Bulldogs rushed for 214.8 yards per contest and compiled a 9-4 record that included a bowl blowout of Michigan.

Sherrod stands at 6'5'' and 305 pounds. He has a great agility for a man of his size and has been clocked as fast as 5.08 in the 40-yard dash. He is fundamentally sound, but struggled slightly against elite pass-rushers--whom he will see plenty of in the NFL. Sherrod has been a staple at left tackle for Mississippi State and he may be asked to protect his quarterbacks' blind side for years to come at the next level. He will surely start out on the right side, but a move to the left is likely at some point. Anything lower than a late first-round selection in the 2011 draft would be a major surprise.

My take: the Ravens need to get younger on defense but shoring up the offensive line here is greatest value, they can take DB's and some dline later down the draft as well as a speedy WR in the 2nd or 3rd
Time limit is extended 'till 10pm eastern time
