Please post the pick, a short explanation and a picture (if available) here. Please keep the discussion in the other thread.
the panthers select blaine gabbert

the panthers havent had a franchise qb in almost forever the panthers feel that newton has a higher upside but is too much of a risk and decide to take the safe qb option in gabbert

his stock has skyrocketed and has had great proday and has had nothing but praise since the end of the season

ill add pictures and quotes from anyasis and videos later (doing this on my phone)
The Broncos select Marcel Dareus, DT

This is quite easy, Dareus has emerged as the top DT, Denver has nothing at this position. Patrick Peterson is an option, but after extending Champ Bailey i don't see that happening, so Dareus is the pick here :

I don't think Buffalo thought that Newton would be here. They were going to pass on Gabbert for sure. But they will take Newton, Fitzpatrick only had a 82 passer rating and Cam will put butts in the seats.

Bills select Cam Newton

Via PM from ChaunceyGardner :

The Bengals select their new #1 WR, with Owens and #85 on their way out:

AJ Green, WR
The Arizona Cardinals select Texas A&M OLB Von Miller.

The Cards get the #1 player on their big board, who will make an immediate impact in the pass rush.

Another pick via PM from ChaunceyGardner:

The Browns select Julio Jones, WR
The San Francisco 49ers select:

PATRICK PETERSON, CB, LSU

No explanation necessary on this one.
Titans select Nick Fairly DT Auburn

Strengths:
Bulk with frame to get bigger; long arms
Quick off snap
Explosive force
Gap penetrator - makes plays behind line
Plays angry, bull rusher
Pursues laterally
Solid against the run
Decent speed for his size
Good footwork
Scheme versatile

Weaknesses:
Can gain lower body strength
Only two seasons in FBS - one productive
Needs to avoid personal fouls
Work ethic questioned

Summary: Nick Fairley is a difference-maker on the defensive line. He gets into the backfield and wreaks havoc by either blowing up a running play or harassing the quarterback.

Handing a lot of money to a player in the trenches is always a big risk either in the draft or free agency as the Washington Redskins found out with Albert Haynseworth. This is a critical factor when evaluating Fairley because his work habits are questionable even before his NFL payday. He is also prone to penalties that NFL teams will not tolerate and has the "dirty player" tag.

If Fairley can stay motivated, work on his lower body and play clean, he is going to be a terror. He is best suited as an under tackle in a 4-3, but some teams might look at him as a 3-4 defensive end (five-technique).

Player Comparison: Darnell Dockett. Others have likened Fairley to players like Kevin Williams, Albert Haynesworth, Ndamukong Suh and Warren Sapp. To be different, I am going with Dockett in part because of the "bad boy" image. Coming into the draft, Dockett needed to add muscle mass, which he did, and the same is true for Fairley. Another similarity as prospects is questionable work ethic. In fairness, Dockett was significantly more experienced. If we can get Fairley to be more interesting on Twitter (War Eagle shoutouts do not qualify), this will be an even better comparison.

Via PM :

Dallas takes Prince Amukamara, CB Nebraska.
Via PM:

Washington selects Robert Quinn, DE UNC

Houstan Texans select Justin Houston OLB Georgia

Positives: Excellent size and build to play outside in a 3-4 scheme, has good bulk and above-average strength for the position... Sack totals have been very impressive (21 career sacks, 11 in 2010)... Pretty good speed for his size... Massive 34½" arms... Monster in the weight room, power cleaned 420 pounds during workouts in 2009, is a workout warrior... Was named Butkus Award finalist for 2010 as one of nation's standout linebackers... Very humble and modest, feels the need to constantly improve and works hard to get better in every facet of the game, sets a good example as a leader for his teammates... Is very quick off the snap, times the count well and has an explosive first step off the line... Is fairly disciplined and plays with good instincts as both a five-technique end and an outside linebacker... Uses hands well when engaged with blockers, maintains balance and keeps play-side hand free on most occasions... Utilizes hefty frame and strong upper body when engaged with blockers, stays relatively low and will not get pushed away from running plays directly at him... Has the intangibles to be a big-time pass rusher and solid all-around player and leader in the NFL because of good motor and strong work ethic... Has a lot of experience playing with his hand in the dirt and will get looks at 4-3 DE as well.

Negatives: Was suspended for the first two games of 2009 for violating team rules, but has since stayed out of trouble and handled the suspension well... Tends to give up on plays when across the field, has a good motor off the snap, but stops when play is too far away... Does not take very good angles in pursuit down field... Tends to tackle too high and does not drive through every tackle, but can afford to do so in traffic because he wraps up well and doesn't miss many tackles... Plays much more like a weakside defensive end on first and second down than he does a linebacker, can get too deep into the backfield and get out of position on plays up the middle of the line... Will never be very proficient in coverage, will be suitable to defend short routes in the NFL, but will likely be predominantly a pass rusher... Has only a year of experience as a 3-4 OLB, so 3-4 teams expecting to use him in that capacity will need to factor in a learning curve at the position.

Strengths:
Excellent size and strength
Very good instincts
Playmaker
Very good ball skills
Nice awareness
Confident
Highly competitive
Smooth athlete
Impressive change of direction
Love his footwork
Instinctive
Fluid hips
Clutch
Plays very under control
Outstanding tackling technique
Best run support corner in 2011 Draft
Tough
Natural feel for the game
High talent level
Strong work ethic
Very consistent and productive
Overall skill set is rare

Weaknesses:
Still gets too high in backpedal
Hand usage in press man needs to be refined
Doesn't display a very good second gear in back half
Needs to prove he's still an elite corner without an elite pass rush (Ndamukong Suh) in 2011
Lacks elite speed

Summary: Amukamara could very well be the first corner drafted in 2011. He has a very nice talent level and he makes the most of it by being very competitive and not shying away from contact in run support. A couple things in his game could be fixed and he lacks elite speed, but there's enough here to the point where I believe Amukamara will be a top 16 pick in 2011 and could go as high as top eight.

Player Comparison: Antoine Winfield. Amukamara has a lot more size than Winfield, but these corners are both excellent in run support and are quite simply playmakers.

Already taken at #9

With the 12th pick in the 2011 draft the Minnesota Vikings select

JJ Watt Wisconsin , Wisconsin

Quote:
Watt is an ideal fit as a strong side 4-3 defensive end but some may like him more as a 3-4 end. A hard-working, intelligent, relentless player. Uses his hands extremely well to get off blocks both rushing the passer and against the run. Doesn't possesses great initial quickness but closes hard and fast on the quarterback and has enough straight-lined speed to pursue from the backside. Good height, fast hands and great anticipation allow him to bat down a ton of passes. Watt will give you everything he's got and is certainly a first-round selection.
