For anyone to answer, whether its OTC, MD, Ghost or a regular poster, who are your guys who u think are franchise players. Or at the very least Impact players, and the potential risks.
Mine:
My 3 Impact/Franchise Players;
LSU CB Patrick Peterson
Alabama DT Marcell Dareus
Georgia WR A.J. Green
Players with tons of upside, just unsure of them.
UNC OLB Robert Quinn
TX A&M OLB Von Miller
And then risky picks
Mizzou QB Blaine Gabbert
Auburn QB Cam Newton
Auburn DT Nick Fairley
Clemson DE Da'Quan Bowers

Not an expert but I think for the first 10 picks or so that about sums it up. The teams that do well are the ones that on their picks. It doesn't matter if you reach as long as the player works out. That's why I'm on the Peterson/Dareus/Green bandwagon but they will probably be all gone. So I think Amukamara might not be as good in the long term but he is fairly safe. Quinn and Miller scare me... Miller more so than Quinn. Guys like Fairley and Bowers are common... more so than any other position it seems like DL are the guys that can take plays off or be the guy to work their hardest in a contract year and then do nothing. There are a lot of one year wonders that have disappeared. Some teams take risk, others don't but I have always considered our drafting technique to be on the safe side.
I would think that the team that takes the safe pick and hits almost every time in the long run will be better off than the team that takes a lot of risks and only gets a super star a small fraction of the time. Problem is QB is a whole new ball game in that you hit on it and it can take your team to the top quickly.
Edit: If we end up with one of the "risky" guys we just have to hope for the best and I guess support the pick. Fans don't have to like it but once he's on our team they should be hoping he does well. I know some would rather be right about a player and have him fail for us then do well and be wrong.

Impact/franchise players:
Patrick Peterson (that's about it)
Huge upside but unsure:
Von Miller
Robert Quinn
Nick Fairley
A.J. Green
Risky picks:
Cam Newton
Blaine Gabbert
Da'Quan Bowers
Solid, but probably not spectacular:
Marcell Dareus
Cam Jordan
Prince Amukamara

I would add Prince as an impact/franchise pick.
Solid Upside would be Kerrigan, Ingram, and Jordan.

I'll do five overall.
Franchise Players:
CB Prince Amukamara, Nebraska - He's drawn comparisons to Darelle Revis for a reason. Feared cover man in college, great size, speed, and technique. Being a senior and not possessing blistering speed at the monstrous size Peterson is, is the only reason Prince is not considered the top CB in this draft. All about perceived upside. Prince is an extremely high character guy with a strong work ethic who I just can't see failing in the NFL.
WR Julio Jones, Alabama - You look at this kid on tape and just say, "Wow." Then he goes to the combine and despite already high expectations, we are all once again saying, "Oh my goodness. Wow." -- That's what Julio brings. A "wow" factor. Soft hands, incredible strength, size, tremendous speed, nice route-running. Very productive player in an extremely tough conference. It's hard to not think he might have the biggest upside of any WR in the draft, even more than Green.
Great Tools, but Unsure:
OLB Von Miller, Texas A&M - I have not seen a variety of pass-rush moves from Miller. If he doesn't fix this, he'll be nothing more than a coverage SAM 'backer, or a situational rusher.
High Risks:
CB Brandon Harris, Miami - Not explosive, poor tackler, too small, not a playmaker, poor hands. Why is he even considered a 1st-round possibility? He shouldn't be.
QB Cam Newton, Auburn - There's no question he's got an arm, but does he have the intelligence and maturity to take on all the tasks that will be asked of him in the NFL? Will he be able to work through all the mechanical issues? All that athleticism and arm strength doesn't mean anything if you can't read what the defense is doing as well as put the ball where it needs to be, and consistently.

I'm no expert but I disagree. I think Prince is in the risky/solid range. I've seen him get beat often and have heard many "experts" and scouts say he's a bit overrated.

What experts? And I disagree about getting beat often. If your referring to the OSU game. That holds no water with me, I've proven in other threads that game is being over-analyzed by posters on this board. Its not as bad of a game as people lead others to believe.

Man crush? No. Do I think he's the best pure CB in the draft? Yes. In the OSU it was 2 catches and a PI that made him "look bad" and if you watch the film, on the big catch, the SS gave no support on the flea flicker. PP gave how Julio how many catches....7-8? On top of a huge PI when he got torched.
EDIT: Just to solidify my point on Prince being a franchise player:

I would take the opinion of those 4 over any Kiper or McShay you want to believe in.

just my opinion:
LSU CB Patrick Peterson - (would be happy to land him)
Alabama DT Marcell Dareus - (as solid as he maybe, i dont think he's worth 7th overall)
Georgia WR A.J. Green (I really would rather have Julio Jones, cause i think that Julio's talent was not fully utilized at Alabama)
UNC OLB Robert Quinn - (Overrated, not worth top 10 pick)
TX A&M OLB Von Miller - (a younger Joey Porter, is he worth top 10?)
Mizzou QB Blaine Gabbert - (i see a mix of Bledsoe and Leaf in him.. I expected him to throw for more than 16 TDs in that wide spread offense)
Auburn QB Cam Newton - (hes no Vince, and he's no Vick, but the guy just have that IT in him)
Auburn DT Nick Fairley - (Cortez Kennedy all over again)
Clemson DE Da'Quan Bowers - (a nodge below Peppers, but i doubt that he can play under a 3-4 scheme)
Prince Amukamara - he's just a younger version of our very own Clements.
Jake Locker - with the right coaching staff, he could end up just like Brett Favre.. had Brett stayed with Glanville and the Falcons, he woulda never developed into the type of player that he became..
Ryan Kerrigan - he willl just make you happy for drafting him.. he's a smaller version of Justin Smith..

1st off, thanks and Im sure that means alot of the rest too.
Now as for Amukamara, Even though Peterson is the most athletic DB in yrs IMO, i think Amukamara is the most ready, I admit I want Patrick Peterson. But if we get Amukamara I would be fine with it and happy.
Ive come to terms that I want either Peterson, Dareus or Amukamara. Close 4th is Quinn/Miller.
And In no way is amukamara a risk as stated, so I agree with Travisty on this.
