With the CBA agreement in flux, and the likelyhood of getting a new deal done, lets take a look at the early 2012 prospects.

Now, I know it is early, and I mean way way way early, but heck, it is always fun to look forward.

To me, the 2012 class is also loaded at the top.

When Andrew Luck decided to return, people said he will be #1 pick in 2012, but remember Locker, he said he was returning, then fell off, after being the top QB going into 2010.

Now, I am not saying this is happening, but it is fod for thought so to speak.

And now, lets look at the top Seniors and Underclassmen for the '12 draft, assuming there is a 2012 NFL Draft.

SRs:

Now, here are the top Seniors returning to college, that could of declared for the '11 draft.

In no Patricular Order.

- WR Michael Floyd- Notre Dame- Now, he didn't exactly have the best 2010 season. But he should bounce back, and be the Top WR heading into 2011 season.

- ILB Courtney Upshaw- Alabama- Stud, should be the top OLB(3-4) to come out in 2012. And a stud pass rusher.

- CB Janoris Jenkins- Florida- Jenkins decided to return to school, despite the setback with his legal issues. But he is one of the top 5 CBs for the '12 draft.

- TE Michael Egnew- Missouri- He was one of Blaine Gabbert's favrorite targets, and should be the top TE selected, of course like with many prospects you never know till time tells.

- DE/DT Jared Crick- Nebraska- He fell off in 2010, but should have a good 2011, especially with the return of Alfonzo Dennard, CB and a top one too.

- CB Afonzo Dennard- Nebraska- One of the top Corners in the nation. And should be a top pick, ala Janoris Jenkins.

- DE/DT Quinton Coples- North Carolina- He is taking over asthe top DL on that defense. But without Quinn, Austin, Williams, Burney, Sturvidant and Carter gone, the D might fall off, but I expect Coples to have a great '11 season.

Now, Underclassmen.

- QB Andrew Luck- Stanford- The clear cut top prospect, and should be the top pick. And will be the 1st pick and top guy on the big board, heading into 2012 draft season.

- WR Justin Blackmon- Oklahoma State- A top prospect at WR, and thought for sure he was turning pro. But with a great showing he will challenge Floyd, but what worries me, is will he be Dez Bryant or Rashaun Woods.

- RB Trent Richardson- Alabama- Dynamic Runner, and should be the top RB heading into the '11 season.

- QB Landry Jones- Oklahoma & Matt Barkley- USC- Both should be hot prospects, but will they declare, I dont know, but if they do so, they will battle it out for the 2nd QB taken.

- WR Alshon Jeffery- South Carolina- Great WR, and Great size and speed, so he should dominate the SEC.

Ok, as said, this is early, but there you go analysis and a look to 2012.
If we get a vet QB this year I hope we really try and get a franchise QB next year. It's going to be tough for a team to trade away someone like Luck though. Hopefully we add some good pieces through the draft and maybe FA so when we do take a risk on a QB we have a very strong team around him.

We might have to trade the entire draft. If not I think WR could be a high pick. Maybe DE, NT or OLB. Hopefully we have RG, FB and the secondary fixed a bit. Hopefully Bowman proves to be the future at ILB. I'd like to see the OL get better (especially tackles).

I'd like to add Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict to this list of underclassman.

If he comes out, he's easily the first linebacker off the board.

good call...also add south carolina cb stephone gilmore, and penn st pass rusher jack crawford,
It's way too early for 2012. Let's not forget Locker was considered by many to be the #1 overall pick if he would have came out in 2010. Too much changes from year to year. Man, there better be football this year.
My question would be, "How much was Harbaugh responsible for Luck's success?"

If he can groom a QB without getting Luck, don't mortgage the team to get him. Can he do the same for Newton, Gabbert. Stanzi, etc?

I really liked this site and had fun clicking through it for half an hour. Thanks AB

thanks bud, i love having a draft website.

I think Harbaugh has what it takes to groom any QB, even Gabbert and Newton. I personally would like Dalton, Ponder or Stanzi. But if we go gabbert or newton I will have to live with it, and if they succeed, then i was wrong.

good call guys. I like Crawford. I see him as a 3-4 OLB, pass rushing specialist. If we by pass a OLB or just want another one, I wouldnt mind him.
Where do you rate Ryan Lindley, QB San Deigo State?

to me, he is in the 2nd tier of QBs behind Luck, who is in a class of his own as of now.

Lindley, Landry Jones, Matt Barkley are the 2nd tier.
