All because McNOLAN continued to draft players who were leaders.. hahahahha...

Balmer was suppose to be a 3 year project.. hahhahaahh.. such a dumb pick cause we werent even a contender.. and for us to draft a 3 year project knowing that we needed to win now??? duhhhhhhhhhh!!!! and look who may just benefit if he does become a good DT?? the freakin Seahawks.. in our own division..
Damn! Thats gotta be the worst in the league in those years. And its probably not even close
I don't think Reggie Smith is bad. I think he'll have a solid to good year.

But yeah, bad drafts.
It's nice to have historical perspective. It helps you realize that many of these prospects the board is salivating over will be busts.
The thing that's really frustrating is bad drafts like that don't really impact the team until a few years have gone by. But usually when you have more than one bad draft in a row the team really suffers a few years later.

Those drafts could be what we look back to when we have a losing season in 2011 or 2012....
Morgan is a contributer and crabtree is inconsistent.

id like to interview McNolan and ask them now about the 2008 draft and what they saw from each guys?

my jaw dropped when they announced Kentwan Balmers name and my face fell in slow motion on a pillow on my couch. I remember uncle telling me "good luck with that yall can have him. He is a one year wonder". I was so damn mad and I knew what he said was already true.

I can't even describe the pick of Blamer at the time. I was in disbelief...just a total left field pick. I didn't even consider us taking a DE in the first round let alone one like Balmer who had one good year.
The 2008 draft was atrocious, and the 2009 one can become a good one if Crabtree and RJF become big time contributors..

However, the 2010 draft wasn't bad.

Davis-Struggled, but improved. Is still very young and has the talent to be a great one.
Iupati- Beast. No explanation needed here.
Mays-Showed signs at times, but still needs work. He is still iffy IMO, but we'll see.
Bowman-I think the guy will be a solid LB and our starter once Spikes is gone, which might be this year.
Dixon-I'm not so high on Dixon like the others, but he is decent.
Byham-I like this pick a lot. He is a beast of a blocker and can catch too. Might be utilized more in Harbaugh's TE happy offense.
Williams-I love this pick. I know he barely played and was injured, but this guy is a speedster. He is quick and has excellent hands. Might be our WCO slot receiver.
Adams-Showed a ton of potential in PS and as a punt returner. His fumble against the Saints still haunts me, but i think he can be a decent dime or nickel corner.
