Love the presentation again, oldie, but some of the picks seem out of their value spot. Kendall Hunter is a top 3 running back in this draft, Christian Ponder elevated his draft stock to at least the 3rd round with an impressive performance at the Senior Bowl, and Owen Marecic is considered the top fullback from a few draft sites and could be selected in the 4th round by a team that likes his versatility.
I'm not a big Allen Bailey fan. Dude is a physical specimen but he didn't show anything last week and has been inconsistent at Miami.

Why even before Fangio was hired did you assume we were going to be a 4-3? No signs pointed that way.
As for the picks and FA acquisitions, very optimistic.

I like the 2 QBs in the draft too. I hope we go this route. And if it were Dalton and Ponder, I'd be excited. Good job with it all the way through.
QB: Alex Smith, Bruce Gradkowski, Andy Dalton, Christian Ponder
RB: Frank Gore, Anthony Dixon, Kendall Hunter
FB: Mike Cox
TE: Vernon Davis, Delainie Walker, Nate Byham
WR1: Michael Crabtree
WR2: Eddie Royal
WRs 3/6: Ted Ginn Jr, Adrian Arrington, Kyle Williams, Kevin Jurovich[i]--I think I'd rather have Zeigler then Jurovich. Zeigler seems like a pretty sure-handed WR and has no fear going for a catch.
[b]LT: Joe Staley, Alex Boone
LG: Mike Iupati, Tony Wragge
OC: David Baas vs Eric Heitmann
RG: Chilo Rachal, Nick Howell vs Thomas Claiborne [i]--Who is Nick Howell? I didn't see him in your mock or your offseason?
[b]RT: Anthony Davis, Alex Boone

- agreed that there were some sick steals in the draft. This one did go pick by pick, and RBs happened to fall later than they should have. FBs also don't get much love come draft time.
Bailey did struggle to disengage, and I recognize that he will take some work, but the talent is there to be a force.

In this, you are the GM of your team. Me personally? I feel we are and have been better for the 4-3 than the 3-4... so that's what I chose to go with.

Honestly, we'd have to take a long look at Bailey if he happened to slip to our spot in the 2nd round. Too much value there.

I agree with you but we are sticking with the 3-4 so it is what it is. Hopefully we get the guys to make it work right.
That said, Ponder is atleast a 3rd rounder after the senior bowl. I'm not high on Bailey. I don't think the Broncos and Giants would let Royal and Ross go for those players. It'd be nice but kind of unrealistic.

It's a GM Mock... where 32 people have a certain level of freedom for creativity to mold their team. If we want realistic, we wait and do nothing but wait for the draft.

That would be a great draft if it went down like that.

You definitely did a great job. How's the Guard Nick Howell though? I didn't see him in the draft or your offseason?

Just looked him up. I hadn't known he was on our roster already. Do you see anyway we could get another OG? I'm not sold on Rachal/Clairborne/Howell helping us any at RG.

Yeah, sorry I didn't get back to you on that. Yes, SF signed Howell to a future contract not so long ago, so I kept him for young depth to develop. We have experienced depth already with Heitmann and Wragge. Howell benched 38 reps at his pro day!

So do you he actually may be someone to look out for? I honestly know nothing about the kid. But I think anyone would be better the Rachal at this point.
