Say Westbrook packs it in or signs elsewhere. Who do we consider a prospect to compete in our stable? Personally I think we should try and draft a WCO type RB like Kendall Hunter or something but I'm interested to hear other suggestions.

Haven't really looked at the RB class because IMO we have way too many needs above a 3rd RB. I wouldn't take one before the 6th or 7th round. By that time guys I don't think a whole lot will be left. Here are some I like but will most likely be gone.
Derrick Locke Kentucky
Dion Lewis Pittsburgh
Noel Devine West Virgina
Jacquizz Rodgers Oregon St.
Roy Helu, Jr. Nebraska
Delone Carter Syracuse
I am expecting Anthony Dixon to be improved. We could use that short yardage guy and a scat back type. I think Owen Marecic (FB) could become the short yardage guy if we take him. As for scat backs in the round we will probably take a RB Devin, Rodgers and Locke will be gone. Now that we are going to the WCO I want Westbrook back more so than before. He could help the young guys learning this new system.

IF I'm the Niners FO I'm going into the draft assuming Gore will go down with an injury at some point in the season. A quality replacement is a must and I dont think Dixon is the answer.

For my money I don't bring back Westy and then i'd draft me some Brandon Saine Ohio St. who could/should be able to be had near the end of the draft.
Another interesting prospect for me is Pitt's Dion Lewis.

Shane Vereen could be a nice mid-round pick for the tailback role.
and I do say dixon is our heavyweight rb if gore goes down. Keep in mind he was the 3rd rb on the roster even before westy came, and while I'm sure he practiced and trained his ass off he wasn't doing so expecting to be starting any time soon.
I think he enters beast-training mode this offseason(like how coffee gained tons of muscle before he decided to randomly retire). Then he watches tons of video, improves. Comes out of training camp solid. It's way too early to give up on him especially when you see guys like benjarvus green-ellis or Hillis emerging.

give quizz a chance, I LOVED watching him play. He is surprisingly strong as well, I see him being pretty good in the NFL

Or -- dare I say? -- LeGarrette Blount...

We don't use him anyway. So I don't see the difference.

I thought about him too, he was undrafted, but he just beasted straight out of college. He was actually given the opportunity to get carries though, that helps. Hillis and BGE both have been in the league a few seasons now before they were able to get real opportunities.
Dixon's 3.4 y/a is a little disheartening. But we have to consider that many of his carries were when all else failed and teams had already shut down gore-not to mention our horrid passing attack that didn't exactly scare defenses.

Roy Helu is my pick, but I'm biased...we went to high school together and I played him in baseball growing up. Since 5th grade I knew he'd play in the NFL, he was always a big fast dude!!! Let's bring him back to the bay Niners!!!
