Been thinking about how the cba is going to affect the draft. Assuming the the cba is not settled (Likely, imho) we will not be able to trade for or sign a free agent QB before the draft. This creates this problem: we will not be able to trade this years draft picks to a team for their QB (orton, kolb, palmer, etc.) So if after the draft is over, the cba gets settled, then you could trade a 2012 draft choice for a QB. But lets use Denver for an example. Would not denver be better off to keep orton for the 2011 season, then trade him before the 2012 draft to get a 2012 draft pick? Now i dont know if orton will be a free agent in 2012 or whether the new cba will cause cap problems that will make it advantageous to trade him this year but for the possible "trade for QBs"available right now a draft pick a year from now may not look so tempting. If the cba is settled after the draft,It seems to me that to help your team for the coming season, trades of player for player would make a lot more sense. It also seems to me that filling the holes on your roster with draftees is imperative because the price for free agents and trades may be way higher than in normal years. Your thoughts?
