Us and the Steelers were the only teams to not allow a 100 yd. rusher this year. So, the DL is not the problem. Give me Quinn at #7 a Qb in the 2nd and a corner in the 3rd.

Yeah, this one is a real sister-kisser for me.
Good player, great value. Should help our team.
But not really an area of need, and there are player(s) as good or better who fit more critical needs.
Improving our run stopping would only make this team slightly better as we are already pretty strong in that department.
Pass rush or CB seems to be the way to go here.
The one thing that would make sense would be if Franklin walked, we would move ICE to NT. If that happened then the pick would make 100& sense on value and need.
Agreed. Us keeping Franklin is key. I say take best player available unless were 100% solid at that position like ILB/TE/DL.

SF--Dareus
New defensive coordinator Vic Fangio brings a 3-4 scheme with him, and Dareus proved his effectiveness in three-man fronts under Nick Saban at Alabama. Dareus is quick, strong and mobile and would further upgrade a defense that already ranks in the top 10 against the run.
I'm really OK with this one over Amukamara. We do need an upgrade at LDE and he would pair up nicely with Justin Smith!
why?
Soap is solid and then McDonald is beast? we need QB, CB, passrush
Yeah, we we're stout against the rush. We desperately need a pass rusher and a shut down corner. At seven it has to be a corner or a pass rushing OLB.
We're not so stout against the rush, teams just chose to pass on us because it was easier. But when teams wanted to run on us, they did, at will.
Plus our NT is a free agent.

The new NFL doesn't have a lot of feature backs anymore. Most teams run 2, and even 3, backs consistently throughout the game. How many teams ran for more than 100 yards against the 49ers? It's more than zero.

What? Your making my point for me. They didn't rush because the couldn't and had to settle with passing the ball. I would call a DL stout when they didn't allow a 100 yd rusher all season.

I'm with V on this one. Dareus IS the best solution to the DL. Ice? Really? He's best as a backup. This kid is a beast in the run AND pass. He reminds me of Richard Seymour, just not as tall. The only thing I would question would be stamina. Can he do this on all three downs? He then can move inside or stay out when McD comes in for the 3rd down package.
Don't get me wrong. I know how important it is to land a WILL and a CB. Prince ranks up there, but so does Dareus. He's the prototypical 3-4 DE.
Too me, he improves our run and pass D on the DL, the front lines. I'm tired of risks with the likes of Quinn, Gabbert and Newton. Amukamara would be the only other one with very few holes in his abilities. It's just that Blackmon spanking that just absolutely demolished this top flight corner. I know it's just one game, but damn!
The one guy I want at #7 is Peterson. Other than he, it would be Dareus, Gabbert, Amukamara.
That's just me. Aren't you glad I'm not GM.

Dareus can provide pressure at DE much like Justin Smith.
I would not hate this pick but would rather pick Quinn if available.

I'm pretty sure we tried ICE at NT in the past and he got worked there, but he's solid as a DE in the 3-4.
I don't remember him getting "worked" at NT. I know his technique was raw, and it didn't seem like Nolan/staff was giving him proper coaching in that area.

Yeah, if we lose Franklin, which is semi-probable, that would make more sense.
But personally, I'd still rather go Prince, Ayers, Von Miller or trade down, and then target someone like Ellis, Fua, or Taylor later if we need to replace our NT. That way we can keep Ice where he's better and/or get a DE to start/back up with a later pick and/or with a FA.

QB and CB are definite needs. I think we go CB with our first pick.

Thanks for the love Chef!
Absolutely if Peterson is there I'd take him over Dareus.

Ugh, I don't like that pick. I say go CB or QB at #7, trade back into the first round and draft Von Miller if he is still available. Thats what I would like to see happen. The pass rush has been NEGLECTED for way too long.
To me the team needs are:
QB, OLB>everything else.

Can't say that I didnt like this pick. If we pick Dareus and re-sign Franklin, we will have the best front 3 in the league and maybe one of the outside rushers will be able to have a breakout season.
