A.J. Green bandwagon. WR in round 1?

Aj Green reminds me alot of Dez Bryant( A little less swoleness tho), with Devin Hester speed! I may be bias, because I am a huge Dez Bryant fan and AJ Green fan...but Id love Aj Green to be our number 1..Crabtree number 2 and Morgan/Ginn/Williams #3.

AJ GREEN:
Pros:

AJ Green heads the 2011 NFL Draft wide receiver class. Green has great height for a wide out and that height is a great weapon. He uses his height and excellent body control to come down with the ball in most jump ball situations. This skill comes in handy with deep balls and in the Red Zone. Green possesses superior speed which only enhances his big play ability. Although he is only entering his Junior season he has a lot of game experience. He has performed well under pressure at a very young age and that speaks well for his character. Green also benefits from playing in Georgia’s pro style offense.

Cons:

While Green has a ton of ability there are areas he needs to improve on. He needs to dedicate himself and spend more time in the weight room. Adding strength and bulk to his thin frame would only improve his draft stock. Green has good body control but bigger stronger cornerbacks will be able to out muscle him for balls. Like most college receivers Green needs continued work on his route running. The added experience of another season should help in this area.

Dez Bryant:

Pros:
Above average height
Good muscle definition
Great hands
Will come back to the quarterback and present a window
Dominant on jump balls
Attacks ball at apex
Gets off line of scrimmage
Coordinated and can adjust to the ball
Knows how to set up a receiver and flip their hips
Athletic
Nice sideline awareness
Tough to tackle
Explosive punt returner
Good running vision
Decent amount of upside

Cons:
Route running is still suspect
Rounds off digs and deep outs
Not very fast
Lacks deep speed
Could be more elusive
Doesn't always generate maximum YAC
Needs to eat up cushion more quickly in off man
Needs to work on reading coverages as he does not always identify the zone
A little sluggish coming out of breaks

So are any of you guys fans of taking a WR in round 1. Im a fan of BPA and if Green is availble at number 7 we might have to just pull the trigger.

Special consideration too:

I haven't kept up with Green like I did Jones (they've been showing alot Alabama games in Hawaii) but I think they're both better than Crabtree. More dominant IMO.

Im a fan of both, I believe Green has more upside because of his game breaking speed, but both are capable of being better than Crabtree easily.

Green in my opinion is the best WR Prospect leaving college since Calvin Johnson.. YES, thats how good he can be.

Why not, aside from Vernon Davis our receivers don't command any respect.

why would i do such a thing?

Nah not a WR with a top pick. With a good scheme you don't really need top flight WRs, especially when there are so many other holes on the team.

Heck no. Either pass rusher or corner at 7.

This.

Austin Pettis of Boise State seems to be a perfect WCO WR. Not a dynamite playmaker like AJ Green, but at 6'3, 200 lbs, he has good size and is extremely sure handed. He should be available in the 3rd or 4th.

Think of what happened in Arizona this year. Stud WR (Fitzgerald) no QB other than late round draft rookies. That approach bombed. Get the QB first.

I would LOVE AJ Green but I agree with the majority...

We need someone to pass him the ball AND we have too many other pressing needs (CB, OLB, QB, C)
