I know these seem outrageous but this is a weird year for FA's
our team alone has about 13 FA's to hit the market. We have cap room and need to sign this many just to fill our roster.

Re sign

T. Spikes 1 year
T. Laboy 1 year
A. Franklin 3year or franchise tag if available
R. MacDonald 3 year

FA

Big money
WR Sidney Rice 6 year
CB Nnamdi Asomugha 4 year cut Clements, his 11mil can go to Nnamdi

Mid money
C Ryan Kalil 5 year Heitmann can compete with Rachal both going into FA year
QB McNabb 2 year (if cut)
FBHB Mike Tolbert or Le'Ron McClain 5 year

Trade QB Josh Johnson for Josh Morgan and throw in a 7th rounder

Draft

Bill Parcells has four rules for drafting QBs out of college. They are as follows, with his reasoning:

(courtesy of SmartFootball)

1. He must be a senior, because you need time and maturity to develop into a good professional quarterback.
2. He must be a graduate, because you want someone who takes his responsibilities seriously.
3. He must be a three-year starter, because you need to make sure his success wasn’t ephemeral and that he has lived as “the guy” for some period of time.
4. He must have at least 23 wins, because the big passing numbers must come in the context of winning games.

He doesn't even consider a guy unless they meet these requisites.

Nobody projected in the top 2 rounds this year meets these requisites. But Stanzi and Andy Dalton do.
I'd rather get our Franchise QB next year. Even trade out of the second round to get another 1st next year for ammo to get Luck.

Couple things:

1. Scott McKillop isn't on the team anymore.

2. That will be a lot of money spent if we got Asomugha, Ryan Kalil, McNabb and Sydney Rice. - Really don't see that happening.

There could be no Franchise tag. He can go where he wants.

McKillop wasn't released. He just went on IR. Now that the season is over, he's on the holdover roster now -- See: http://www.49ers.com/team/roster.html

I sure would like to hear how McKillop's recovery is going. I think he's a good, scrappy player and a very good special teamer at least, but these ACL injuries are killer. I hope he can come back and compete for an ILB spot. Ideally, I'd like to see the team move Bowman back to the outside where he spent some time playing at Penn St.

Rookie or FA/Brooks/Haralson --- Rookie or FA/McKillop -- Willis/Bowman -- Bowman/Gibson

Bowman would be a one trick pony speed rushing off the edge every snap. too small

Bowman's primary priority would be in coverage as SAM backer replacing Manny Lawson. He's a better pass-rusher than people give him credit for, and his skills would be better utilized at the SAM than at the TED. We saw the noticeable difference in our defense's play with Spikes out and Bowman starting at TED.

If the offence doesn't see him as a threat to rush any given down we might as well play a 4-3
