I couldn't help but ask myself last night while watching the game, is Luck the product of the system? I think Luck is in a QB friendly system. Most of the throws were in the 5 to 15 yard range and the plays are design for the ball to come out quickly.
Andy Dalton played in a similar type offense in high school. Run, run, run, play action, run, run, run, go up top, I would love to see him run this type of offense again. By the way Eric Heitmann and Andy Dolton went to the same high school.

I disagree, I think the oline initially was not blocking very well not allowing time for the routes to develop. This is why the offense was kind of rough in the first half. The Oline blocked much better in the second half and allowed those routes to develop. He stood back there well after 3 seconds on alot of plays.

Neither. I want Dalton, Kaepernick, or Pryor if he enters.
FYI, Andy Dalton has already knocked his stock up to a late 3rd rounder. We're probably going to have to take him with our 3rd if we want him, or with a good combine trade down in the 2nd. He's a Senior Bowl invite.

The South squad quarterbacks for the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl are now set. TCU quarterback Andy Dalton has officially accepted an invitation to the senior showcase event, it was announced today. Dalton joins previously announced quarterbacks Greg McElroy of Alabama and Florida State’s Christian Ponder on the South roster. TCU kick returner and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley will also represent the Horned Frogs in Mobile. “The addition of Andy Dalton to our South roster gives us three really strong quarterbacks,” Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale said. “Andy has proven to be one of the more prolific signal callers in all of college football over the last four years and we’re very pleased that he’ll cap it all off here in Mobile later this month at the Senior Bowl.” “I’m very excited for the opportunity, I feel blessed to even be in that position to get a chance to play in the game. I’ve watched the game for a long time and just to see all the great players that have gone through and played in this game I just feel blessed for the opportunity,” Dalton said. The Katy, Texas native currently ranks third on the NCAA’s all-time wins list with 41 and set all kinds of school records at TCU including passing yards (10,095), touchdown passes (70), pass completions (797), pass attempts (1,294) and completion percentage (61.6). He is the Mountain West Conference career leader in total offense with 11,678 yards (10,095 passing, 1,583 rushing) and has accounted for 91 total touchdowns. “I’m just going to go out and show them (scouts) how I play, show them that I can play with a lot of these players. Hopefully people will see my leadership abilities and all the different intangibles that I can bring to the game.”

To get Luck we could send: 7th overall and forth round and 1st next year
To get Kolb we could send: 2nd round pick this year, or 11' third and 12' 2nd
Actually, according to the draft value chart, to get Luck we would have to send our #1 and #2 this year, and our #1 next year assuming it is #17 or higher. If we make the playoffs next year, meaning #21 or lower, it would have to be our #1 and #3, or some other combination.
However, according to what Carolina said today, if Luck comes out, they will draft and keep him.

1st overall = 3,000 points.
#7 = 1,500
2nd round = 510
#17 (1st round next year) = 950
That is a lot of quality players to give up for a team that still has more needs than just a QB. Better be very sure Luck is everything some think.
If it only took those three picks to secure the rights for Luck, then by all means pull the trigger. We would still have 8 more picks left, which would be more than enough to pick up some quality players.
In a heartbeat. I don't think it'll come that cheap.
I like what Andy Dalton showed the other night. He might be a late 2nd or early 3rd, depending on his combine. I would grab Green or Blackmon with the 1st and get a QB in the 2nd or 3rd.
