I think that EITHER Luck or Gabbert will declare this year -- Gabbert is projected as a lock as a 1st-rounder in 2012, but has already submitted his package to the draft evaluation board...indicating that he is definitely considering declaring.
So if Luck stays in college, I would almost bet the farm on Gabbert coming out and being a Top 10 pick...the kid has all the tools and the only reason he ended up at Mizzou is because he had committed to Nebraska's West Coast Offense under Callahan and had to withdraw when he was fired.
He's actually quite mobile for being 6-5 240; good arm, great accuracy. Played pro-style offense in High School - Spread at Mizzou.

I think he will declare, this is the best market for a qb and he won't prove much by staying another year, it would only serve as an extra year for development. If a team is serious about him they will build around him and ease him into things.

Gabbert has great feet. I think he is going to be well worth drafting. He seems exceptionally gifted with movement. He moves without cross stepping and for a big guy has the ability to move while being well balanced and his head seems steady. I also saw he does not throw the AS highball but actually lower then chest high. I really think if Luck is not there I would wait for Gabbert and or Tolzien and draft our other needs. However I would take Gabbert any way I could get him. We need a qb and while we might have to wait, I think he will carry the team eventually. He reminds me of Greg Cook and Joe Montana. He has Joes feet and he just reminds me of Greg Cook. He obviously is a bit raw but man if he becomes smooth, he will be a great QB.

I's hard to say, I think players could be tempted to declare this year. No way rookies will keep getting paid the way they do now once the new CBA is organised. If they want the money, now is the time to come out.

After last night, I think Gabbert's coming out no matter what. Top 10 pick. Book it.

If I was Gabbert, I would come out:
My reasons:
1) He's not going to learn a pro-style offense at Mizzou a year from now, so he's not going to learn to drop back from center EVER until he comes to the NFL. Trust me, Mizzou never lines up under center unless its a sneak. They don't line up under center in goalline situations.
2) He's ready now. All the physical tools are there. For God's sakes, Josh Freeman went #17 and Gabbert is a more accomplished QB in college than Freeman
3) I saw throws yesterday that were NFL type throws specially throwing an out route when the defense is in cover 2 and the ball has to go over the CB and in front of the safety. He did that about 3-4 times yesterday.
Yes, that 2nd INT was a flat out terrible decision but I seem to remember Drew Brees making an equally terrible INT on MNF in Atlanta. Plus, when you ask your QB to throw 57 times, he's bound to make a mistake.

I don't know much about this guy, but for those with more knowledge if we are picking somewhere between 6-11, can you guys see us taking Gabbert?

Gabbert is not a top 10 pick, let alone a 1st rd pick to me.
He is in a gimick offense, and he is not gonna be a guy like Luck, he has Alex Smith all over him.
I have Gabbert as a 2nd rd guy, but would rather take him over Newton, who I dont understand the hype.

Newton has shown me nothing that says he can even read an NFL defense.

Gabbert - has tools but does not look NFL ready
Cam - not the QB I want as the leader of our team.
Luck or Mallet for me!

Really? I know why he cant read an NFL D....because he plays in college!!!!
Cam has played in the toughest conference, and 2 tough NFL style D's in LSU and Alabama. Please save the fact that he plays in a gimmick O. If you saw the SEC title game, when Auburn came out throwing, everyone saw that Cam can make every throw effortlessly. The hype is that he is a winner, and that he has everything that teams look for in a qb.

Exactly. Watching the game it looked like the same exact play every down. No variations at all in the offense. Though I would take Newton over him.

I'm on the fence with this guy... He is 5x better than Tebow (at running and passing)
I just wouldn't be surprised at all to see him become a star in the NFL.
