Sorry for the long post but it is needed for all the explanations of different scenarios ...
To moderators : i posted this thread here and not in the draft forum as i thought it impacted the game vs cardinals this week and was an actual topic but feel free to move it !
Of course we better lose on sunday but what is the deal of having the best pick available ? First it's the record than it's the strength of schedule and finally the coin toss if necessary
Carolina is n°1 for sure but n°2 is for grabs even for the 49ers !
Here are the important games (number of wins in brackets) and my predictions :
L Titans (6) at Colts
L Redskins (6) vs Giants
L Seahawks (6) vs Rams
W 49ers (5) vs Cards (5)
L Browns (5) vs steelers
W Lions (5) vs Vikings (6)
L Cowboys (5) at Eagles
L Texans (5) vs Jaguars
L Bills (4) at Jets
L Bengals (4) at Ravens
L Broncos (4) vs Chargers
1// Worst case scenario is shown above : every team looses but us and the worst strength of schedule possible is counted for the niners which could drop to n°11 maximum !!! :
1- Carolina
with 4 wins:
2- Broncos
3- Bengals
4- Bills
with 5 wins : (texans cowboys and vikings or lions are very close in strength)
5- Cards
6- Texans
7- Cowboys
8- Lions
9- Browns
with 6 wins :
10- Seahawks
11- 49ers (slight chance of going in front or coin toss with seahawks)
12- Titans
13- Redskins
14- Vikings
2// Best case scenario : we loose and everybody else wins ... don't dream too much ! we could go as high as n°2 !!!!
1- Carolina
with 5 wins :
2- 49ers (even if the worst case scenario of strength of schedule is applicable !!!)
3- Broncos
4- Lions
5- Bengals
6- Bills
If we lose vs cards, we don't care about the cowboys texans and browns as their strength is way over ours
If we win vs cards, we'd like those three teams to win
3// So the summary is ...
GO cards
GO bills
GO bengals
GO broncos
and eventually
GO Texans
GO Cowboys
GO Browns
Hope you enjoyed the reading

They should implement a damn draft lottery for the bottom 5. I don't pay to see my team tank it ever, even if it does land us the 1st overall pick...bottom 5; it really did just hit me now. (face palm)

Thanx for the breakdown. ;-)
The only guy I'm concerned with is Andrew Luck. To get him we need the #1 pick. That can't happen.
The only way the Niners get Luck is if they trade up to get him. Ordinarily, I'm never a fan of moving up because the price is too high, but this one year might be the exception. The price of moving up tho is yet to be determined.
If its a move from #11 to #1...I can all but guarantee its too expensive. If its a move from #4 or #5 up to #1....that might be doable.
Its happened twice semi-recently.
Mike Vick:
Atlanta got - 1st overall Pick in 2001 (Michael VIck)
San Diego got - 5th overall Pick in 2001 (Ladainian Tomlinson), Third round pick in 2001, 2nd round pick in 2002, and WR Tim Dwight.
Eli Manning: (This one is a bit different because the PLAYERS were traded, not the picks, but the bottom line is the same. I'll treat this as a Pick swap and not a player swap).
New York got - 1st overall Pick in 2004 (Eli Manning)
San Diego got - 4th overall Pick in 2004 (Phillip Rivers), 3rd round pick in 2004, and 5th round pick in 2004, and 1st round pick in 2005 (Shawne Merriman).

No need to patrol the board to tell other people how to post. Thats what moderators are for.
Personally, I like this post better because it lays out exactly who needs to win or lose.
