Our DBs suck. Im tired of watching Nate clements get worked on every deep play. He has been over rated since he arrived. The last Decent cb i remember is Ahmed plummer. Lately, we have not had a shut down corner. We desperately need one AFTER we find a QB. Any chance in this years draft? I dont really dont think so given the fact that we Really need a QB and some Dline help

Yeah it was Plummer who was good for his first few seasons. Before that RW McQuarters who had limited success with the Niners, but was much better with the Bears. Maybe we harken back to Merton Hanks/Eric Davis as the last good ones we drafted.

S. Spencer in rd 2. He was agreat pick because he wasn't even invited to the scouting combine.

then did it make sense to draft him in the 2nd round?

IDK...but he is by far our best CB. I'm not saying he's a shutdown corner but he's def. earned his keep. That year I also believe we had 2 picks in the 2nd rd.

jason webster was a good corner but he was hurt all the time. kinda on the short side but the man could cover. believe he was a 2nd rounder.

The answer is Merton Hanks.
Eric Davis was solid, Plummer good but went downhill fast.
Hanks had a ton of range, was a ballhawk, and once he had the ball in his hands it was usually over. Pick six topped off by the funky chicken dance.

The last 1st rounder was Mike Rumph. He was a complete disaster.
