December 15th Mock:
1) Carolina- Luck
2) Cincinnati- Fairley
3) Denver- Bowers
4) Lions- Peterson
5) Buffalo- Dareus
6) Arizona- Newton
7) Dallas- Amukamara
8) SF- Green why not clayborn? do u really wanna the niners go for bpa instead for a (future) need again?
9) Titans- Mallett
10) Washington- Clayborn
Cheers.
Second Round- Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado
Third Round- Lee Ziemba, G/OT, Auburn
Fourth Round- Alex Henery, K, Nebraska
Teams have to go BPA, unless they are completely set with stars already at a position. In the Niners case, if they see a Green on the board at 8, and perceive him to be a Pro-Bowl type receiver, which I do, you have to pull the trigger. I do see a slide for Green based on the teams in this order, even though I see him as the third best prospect in the draft.

MAYBE its a product of Auburn playing from behind so much the Season....but the guy is as CLUTCH as i have ever seen a DL player.
His big plays....are REALLY that... they come when it MATTERS.
He is not racking up garbage time numbers...he is EFFECTING THE GAME.
I dont want to knock Cam Newton.... I love cam Newton....
but as an auburn guy ,( use to be season ticket holder) Fairley is a big deal....I want to call him the best player on auburn even considering what Cam has done this year.
i agrree with you but can he play in a 3-4? whats his size
I think he is at least B young sized. he penetrates like a pre-injury young.

The difference in WRs is that when they come out of an open offense like TT had with Crabtree instead of something more pro style they don't run the route tree and do more freelancing.
That has been and is the knock on Crabtree.

Terrible mock
1 there's no way Detroit passes on Patrick Peterson BPA + biggest need = no brain er, they wreak havoc on the QB as it is (6th in sacks). They need CB's and LB's bad.
2 Cinci ya maybe WR, but I could see QB as well.
3 Buffalo getting a CB? That's the best part of their team!! they're 7th against the pass, and 2nd the year before! yet they are last against the run and trying to build a 3-4. They need to draft front 7 Quinn or Dareus
4 Arizona gets another WR? and still have no one to throw to them! So Fitz, Breston, Doucet and Green. Doubt it. They need to get a QB quick or Fitz is leaving. If they get a veteran QB Robert Quinn OLB would be better Porter and Haggans suck, they still won't get a WR
5 ok the 9ers pick. with so many glaring needs on our team you have us drafting a position that we are probably the strongest. Sop and Smith are both signed long term and are very good and underrated. I know People say to draft the BPA but that's a luxury teams with franchise QBs have, not us. The pick will be QB barring FA.

You don't get the impact players every team needs if you draft a #20 value player at #10 and miss out on a legit #10 in the process.

True, they do need a CB, but Vanden Bosch will only last so long and Cliff avrill is a product of Vanden Bosch. As niner fans, we all know that a strong pass rush will make a mediocre CB look great (i.e. Patriots CBs, excluding Samuel) while a crappy pass rush will make good CBs (like ours) look like practice squad
2 Cinci ya maybe WR, but I could see QB as well.
Can't see anything wrong with this logic. I see them needing a DE like Quinn more, they already have Ocho, Caldwell, Shipley, and Gresham. Also, keeping Palmer for 2 more years and draft a late round project. Palmer has sucked since shattering his knee, but if they improve his OL and defensive pass rush, maybe he'll make better decisions and have shorter fields

I agree, but in this mock CB is BPA and at their pick they have to. Wouldn't be surprised to see them trade with someone like Dallas or even us so that they can pick up a 3-4 DE or OLB and get an extra pick or two to improve their defense

No way they waste a pick at QB with Green on the board. Whisenhunt's offense requires dual threat WRs and as good as Breaston can be, he's a #3 at best. They will most likely sign McNabb in the offseason and draft green to pair up with Fitz and once again have the best WR core in the NFC West...sigh
Only other pick would be for a CB, but they need to improve the LB core first and don't see one of worth at their pick, so they need to make their defense better by having a nasty offense

Just like with Arizona, no value at QB with our pick. Mallett will need the "Aaron Rodgers" treatment of sitting for a year or two to learn a system (just like he did when he transferred from Michigan to Arkansas), Newton needs to learn how to play the pro game and will need to sit for a year as well, and Locker has had his weaknesses exposed (though I feel that's more due to him playing with three freshman lineman, one sophmore, and a junior at center, and having all freshman WRs) and won't deserve a top 10 pick.
Best bet would be to pick up a QB in FA and snag BPA with our 1st pick with a developmental QB like Stanzi, Ponder, or Tolzien in the later rounds

Every team realizes that your only going to go so far with bad QB play. Its the most important position so of course its going to be overvalued. That's why the Jets and Ravens traded up for Sanchez and Flaco. and Value? Locker won't even make it to us with teams like the Redskins, Vikings, and Cards possibly all drafting ahead of us. We would be lucky to even get Mallet with that group. We will also have a new coaching staff, and a new coach is going to want to get HIS QB of the future as soon as possible. I agree that we need a FA QB for a couple of years, one playing and one sitting. It depends on the new CBA, but go look a past drafts. In the top ten picks how many teams flat out just picked the BPA, besides Calvin Johnson (who's a freak) almost all of the teams picks coincided with one of their biggest needs. Because your not going to pay a player top ten money to sit on the bench. With QB being the exception, because again their VALUE is much higher.
You kind of made my point for me, they have a very good pass rush and their cb's still look like garbage.
ya maybe I could see Palmer playing only one more season if at all in Cinni
Waste a pick on a QB? I think now more than ever Whisenhunt realizes that he wasn't prepared for Warner's retirement and should have done this sooner.

I'm hoping the Niners invest in some D this year. Given Smith, Crabs, VD and the OL, they need to get some young talent on D.
