a nfl qb has to have a strong arm necessarily or do u wanna end up with a carr/hill???
I didnt say anything opposite about the accuracy in general but I don"t that big accuracy probs like u...perhaps that weird wobbeling is a little bit problematic but sometimes the receivers simply don"t make the catches even if the pass is catchable but we can look at those problems in the upcoming probs.
imo a gunslinger-qb is a guy who takes the risk at any given play...perhaps i didn"t see the quarters, when he starts to do those things (10pm is 4am here in germany, so sometimes i dont see the complete game) but i didn"t see so much forced throws.
Joe Montana never had a strong arm but he did very well. Same goes with Jeff Garcia.
But back to Jake being a gunslinger; he shows this type of mentality when he makes throws on the run. He isn't afraid to take a chance throwing it through a very small window.
Montana had a very strong arm. Wasnt like Marino or Elway but his arm was very strong and insanely accurate. If he didnt have a strong arm he wouldnt be able to throw his WRs open deep which he did regularly or throw a laser between defenders. Those throws take a very strong arm. Montana was the perfect and most complete QB to ever play in the NFL bar none.
He wasn't perfect and complete. He was clutch and had a real great team around him backing him up. It was pre salary cap era. There was no parity. Eddie D. consistently out spent all other teams. The 49ers had all the best players. Montana lined up on the very best team in football every single year. He benefited greatly from that also. Don't kid yourself.
His 1st superbowl was won on an avg team, no better than what any other playoff team had
That was better than a average team. They had a good pass rush and a good secondary and above average WR's. The last 3 were powerhouses.

I think Locker is garbage and will be the same in the NFL. If ur not accurate in college, you won't be in the NFL. Cam is a really good COLLEGE QB. But I don't see it translating to the NFL.

yeah right...b/c his receivers drop some catchable passes, locker is inaccurate. if u are on the run the whole time, it could happen that some passes don't land where they should to...

i think that about 99% of the members here saw locker playing for the first time in that nebraska game...so its useless to argue about him.
I feel bad because Locker is a real good talent, but with his s**tty squad in Washington, people just take a hit on his stock. I'll wait until the Senior Bowl to really make a decision on him. However, it would be nice if he could continue to play the way he did against USC for the rest of the season.
S**tty squad as well as the gunslinger and inaccuracy points make Locker sound as if he would be more likely to be compared to Jay Cutler.

Don't forget that he's been playing with injuries. Deep thigh bruise and a cracked rib.

I've been wondering the same thing. I know that Locker is known for his toughness, but there's a point in time where the coach needs to think about his players' future. Locker's stock could have taken a tumble to the middle of the first round because of that.

i know the answer: sarkisian thought only about his future...

I love Andrew Luck and believe he is clearly the best QB in this draft, but I see it as more and more likely that we'll finish 7-9, either winning the division or losing it by a game.
As a result, the price may be too high to go from 12 - 14 up to #1 for Luck. Looking at alternatives.
My take on Locker is that he has a higher ceiling than any other QB in the draft, but he needs the right coaching. Mobile, athletic, strong-armed, excellent footwork, perfect mechanics (that's big), great play-action, feels pressure well.
But his is VERY raw and needs to ride the pine for a year.
So if Gruden, Harbaugh, Shurmur, or Holmgren is HC, do we go with Locker at #12 next year? We continue to play the Smiths at QB until Locker is ready.
I'd rather have Mallett, but I'd take him in the 2nd if he's available (which I think he will be).
But to be honest, I don't even think Luck declares, so all this obsession over getting him will probably have to wait for another year.
As for this little comment: "We continue to play the Smiths at QB until Locker is ready." Hell no. Every QB that is currently on this roster needs to be gone, including Nate Davis, and especially Alex Smith. As long as Alex is still here, the starter will always be looking over his shoulder, and people will still be campaigning for Alex to be the starter. We can't have that s**t anymore, they all need to be gone.
