Yes and no. But for the most part, yes.
We could use upgrades all around. Even if Hill makes the team this year, chances are he won't be back next year. So that makes WR a position to add to the list. I'm really pulling for Alex, but if he doesn't do well enough, we'll be drafting a QB. We could also definitely, definitely stand to draft virtually any position along the OL. You never want to be without quality depth in that regard and Baas, Wragge, and Sims I believe are all in contract years. Not to mention Rachal and Snyder have been inconsistent.
I know we have at least 9 picks currently (an extra 6th from Balmer, an extra 7th from Shaun Hill), so this gives us options.
All in all, if Alex plays well, and assuming Hill doesn't come back, I think (at least right now) we should look at drafting something like this:
2 DL, at least.
1 OL, at least.
1 WR, at least.
2 DB, at least.
1 RB - Westbrook is only on a one-year deal, and Robinson.. that's self-explanatory.
1 OLB
1 ILB[/b]

Don't forget that 4th round pick Baalke got back for us from San Diego I think it was.

You guys sure have a lot of confidence that the 49ers won't need a QB.

I think NT, CB, and OLB are priorities. This team still doesn't have that all out pass rush monster on the team. We all hope it becomes Brooks but I'm tired of needing 2 olb's to do the job that one player should be able too. Parys is ok but could be upgraded. Same thing for Manny.
But the thing is gonna be how well does Alex perform. If he does then they aren't gonna be able to re sign him for cheap like folks want to suggest. he's gonna command 10-11 million a year. I believe Kyle Orton just got a 9 million dollar extension. and if he doesn't work out the Niners are either gonna have to spend big money on a possible FA or a rookie qb.

Hopefully my numbers are off but, that's the name of the game. I'm telling you if he has a good season he's not resigning for 5-6 million. I'm not sure on the qb average per season. But let's say he puts up Kyle Orton type numbers his agent is gonna be looking for that type of money. So if he gets a 3 year extension along with some more guaranteed money I bet it averages out to him making 9-11 million a year. Hopefully they could get him for a cheaper price. I'm sure his agent will be looking for top dollar if he excels. With Peyton and Brady all lo8king to get near 20 million a year 8 or 10 million for a middle of the pack qb is about right. But if VD is looking to get 8 million a year the qb is gonna be looking to make more if he leads the team to the playoffs.

9 million a year is pretty much starting QB money nowadays. Cleveland got Delhomme on the cheap and that was for 7 mil a year.
I agree with you if Alex elevates his game to the point were we have to bring him back the bidding will start at 9.

we should trade all our picks for veteran players to try and win it all (again hopefully) because the super bowl for the 2012 season wont be played until its too late

if alex leads us to the playoffs bring him back, but i'll be cautious if he just did enough and depended more on our talent than himself. but i see this yrs alex much more differently and i wouldnt be surprised if he has a huge yr and shocks the nfl. he finally has a good oline and weapons great qbs get, i honestly believe we have the talent on offense to be 1 of the best offenses but its singletary and raye that can prevent that with the conservative bs once were up 2 tds or 10
