I'm very happy with the 49ers draft all-around, it certainly was better than some other teams. But sometimes its fun to imagine how things could have played out differently.
I would like to see the #13 pick traded with the Saints for their 1st/32, 2nd/64, 3rd/95, and a 4th next year. Overall, we lose points on the trade. Assuming A.Davis falls to that pick, they could have then picked him at #13 to replace Jammal Brown so they don't have a dropoff.
With those picks we take Nate Allen, Charles Brown, and Bruce Campbell. Our 4th rounder would then go for Dominique Franks, Perrish Cox or Akwasi. Or, we use the 4th with our 2nd to move up a couple spots to grab Clausen. Otherwise, instead of Mays we grab Worilds or T.Cody. All-around, more impact players.
Ok, so the Saints would never have done it, but whatever There was just so much talent to be had this draft.

now for myself, I would keep the draft the way it is almost 100%.
13- Anthony Davis
17- Mike Iupati
49- Taylor Mays
91- Navorro Bowman
4th- Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
6th- Nate Byham
6th- Anthony Dixon
6th- Kyle Williams
7th- Not sure, really doesnt matter much, most 7th rd picks dont make it.
Of course their is the exception, examples: Brian Jennings, Eric Heitmann and Kyle Kosier.

Mine would've went like this (without trading down):
1a. Earl Thomas
1b. Mike Iupati
2nd. Vladimir Ducasse
3rd. Kevin Thomas
4th. Cam Thomas
6th. Jonathan Dwyer
6th. Eric Olsen
7th. Sean Canfield
1a. Earl Thomas
1b. Mike Iupati
2nd. Vladimir Ducasse
3rd. Kevin Thomas
4th. Cam Thomas
6th. Jonathan Dwyer
6th. Eric Olsen
7th. Sean Canfield

Can you put Davis at 13 assuming you aren't trading down? I don't think that it should work that way.

Will in my opinion. Jones and Hill aren't all that spiffy. Getting 2 WR's would atleast let us cut 1 of them. As for the no RB. One of Coffee or Dixon won't be add much to our offense this year. So adding a RB in my opinion would have been a waste. Worst case scenario sign an undrafted guy or something. Blount, Lonyea Miller, Stafon Johnson, Jouque Bell Etc........

I think the number one goal of the draft was to find a RT that could start right away. A. Davis fits that, Ducasse doesnt. I like the Iupati pick

If somebody had take the RT ahead of the niners. The draft could have been a disaster with potentially still a lot of questions at RT

The Niners traded up to get Davis because they wanted one of the top 3 OTs in the draft (apparently they didn't like Bulaga all that much). Clearly they were afraid some team had Davis rated as high as they did and would trade up to get him....so they were proactive. Right now, I'm cool with that but ask me again in two years.

Everything I've read says he is very raw with a lot of potential. He would be a good pick if the 49ers had an aging veteran at RT instead of a giant hole right now.

And everything I've heard from Mayock makes me believe he could come in and start at RT. After all the Jets seem think he can come right in and start, sure its at OG, but come one Ducasse isn't gonna come in and start over Damien Woody or D'Brick Ferguson. Has long arms, hes strong, quick off the snap, pretty athletic for a big man. I wonder what everyone thought about Larry Allen before he was drafted???
